I think I'd prefer the silent version please, maybe they could use canceling wave forms to eliminate wind noise.

I reckon that is what they were doing all those years ago. Spend 20 odd years and untold millions of R&D money to cancel out engine and road noise then um, add noise to it? Seems like the sort of thing our government would sponsor...

(iirc Lotus et al captured live sound and punted out exact opposite (ie cancelling wave), but processing power was an issue back then)

@Fastra: thanks for the magic roundabout! Fpmsl!

Lotus wouldn't be my first choice for replicating the sound of a 12 cylinder.

Brabus had this on the Tesla last year, strangely enough with a V8, space noises and a V12 was available too.

If you want a tree hugging hybrid, but prefer the sound of a V8 - then buy yourself a Chevy Tahoe Hybrid.

6.3litres of Chevrolet V8
The best Hybrid system on a production vehicle (according to many reports)

A must have for Christmas - ask Santa, he'll bring you one!

When I was 17 (19 years ago) I did some work experience at Lotus as part of my A Level physics course. This included being shadowing a team that were developing an anti noise system they had fitted to a Citroen AX. As well as cancelling out the boominess of the AX it also could synthesize various engine sounds (dependant on revs) and played them through the speakers....

I was driven around the Hethel test track by one of the engineers, and from what I remember it was amazing - especially the Porsche 911 sound! I have been telling my mates about this for ages now but they never believed me - perhaps they will now!!!
