8.1/166 Quarter mile? not all that fast really is it?

this bloke runs an 8.87/164 Impreza which he drives to and from the events and uses it in the handling circuits.

Not really the same though is it, this sounds brilliant and brutal, and looks fab

Not knocking AndyF stuff, cos I love it, just not as exclusive as this

Most? What supercar can get anywhere near that?

The Veyron is in the mid 10s IIRC.

Not many people pay attention to drag racing I assume.

8 seconds is stupidly fast.

Brill car and very fast! smile

Off topic but andy scooby is pretty quick. however not that fast as a drag cars as thats not it prime use! its designed to go around corners as well. lol

Chris.

PS. this it would have looked a little 'nicer' with a Nelson racing twin turbo 572 BBC in there...... http://www.nelsonracingengines.com/pix-engines-tt5...

I was thinking that, there are a number of streetlegal cars running those sort of numbers.

This car has most probably been built for Super Comp which is an 8.90 index racing class.. So isn't all about trying to get through the top end as quickly as humanly possible.. (yes, that does happen in drag racing..)..

Sadly this car is unlikely to make Pic of the Week, but here are a few nice high-ish res shots (possibly enough for a wallpaper if your monitor's not too big) from the builders' website:

The car was actually built to run Comp Eliminator Slinky. Now we should say no more about that as its going to soon get complicated, but I guess we have to:

Its running on the D/A index which apparently is 8.40 in Germany but I guess that leaves him really quite short as you'd want to be running 7.70 - 7.80 to really have the class nailed.

Stefan Winter was the guy behind the now defunct Turtmann events

Theres not a supercar comes close. The Ultima GTR is the only "production car" thats managed to get into single figures with a 9.9second run.

Well now you've gone and let all of the confusion out of the drag racing sub fora and out into the outside world.. How is anyone who isn't of a drag racing persuasion going to understand complicated eliminator??? wink

I'm baffled by the concept of a 6.9 litre 350 Chevy. As 350 is a number of cubic inches, and it equates to 5.7 litres; the car will be running closer to a 400 engine.

Its a 422cu in motor. I find it hard to believe that a number of "motoring journalists" have published the story and none seem to have worked out that the "350" relates to 350 cubic inches or 5.7 litres.

But then, this is a car with a American based motor and involved in drag racing... We shouldn't expect the European media to be able to get it rignt should we.

Check the intake ports on that engine! its NOT a SBC based motor! LS or ford maybe, BBC probalby esp at those power levels! thats alot of BHP for a 7ltr NA engine to be making!!!!!

The exhaust spacing tells us it's not an SBC too, likely to be a Big Block..

A touch of thread resurrection, but, when looking at the entry list for this years European Finals at Santa Pod, I've noticed that this car is listed as being entered..

Entry list is here on Eurodragster : -> http://www.eurodragster.com/santapod/live/2010fiae...
