Really! Anyone who doesn't 'get', like or indeed LOVE this car for its exclusivity, beauty, individuality and sheer 'Britishness' should re-examine their claim to be a petrol/pistonhead. If this machine isn't exactly the sort of thing that first piqued one's interest in all things automotive then I fear, that - cold runs the multigrade in your veins Sirs!! Goodnight!!!
Couldn't agree more. And those that state that you could get x of Lambo/Ferrari/Zonda are also clearly missing the point. The target audience for this car is not someone who weighs up what they could have bought for the same money. So the comparison is irrelevant. You may as well complain in the next 911 story that you could have bought x number of 370Zs for the same money...lazyitus said:

Just little things. I'm not suggesting Aston were influenced by TVR, but it's nice to think that perhaps a bit of the TVR-mentalism may have inspired Aston.
Flat1 - well, when you put it like that. I'm sure I read of a chap who has ordered two - exactly like that stand, one to drive, one the bare chassis to sit in his study. As you do
It's not OR for the majority of buyers of these cars. It's AND a Veyron. AND a Reventon. AND an Enzo. etc etc. Good on them for keeping the rest of us in dreams and motivation to work harder and smarter.

it does look jaw dropping PLEASE make james bond have one...
Yes, I can see machine guns emerging from those huge frontal air scoops already. However, it's just not very 'Aston' to my mind. It's not subtle enough. The Vanquish was bad enough - looked like a kind of posh Dodge Viper, but this is just plain brutal (but not in a deceptively elegant Lagonda V8 sort of way either).

Exclusivity - yes.Beauty - subjective. To me, definitely not.
Individuality - No, can't shake the suspicion that it exists purely because the Ferrari 599GTB exists.
Sheer Britishness - No again. Too brash, too vulgar, too charmless.

Theres nothing wrong with agression in engineering, especially when it looks as good as the one-77!

I've just had this feeling for a while now that all Aston's cars in their current lineup are aimed specifically at bothering other models, rather than existing on their own merits, evolved through years of DB-series GTs and a certain kind of very elegant, understated style and engineering.
I drove an old V8 last month, and I was left with this feeling that they could, if they had wanted to, pumped it full of mechanical steroids and sent it chasing the Ferrari Berlinetta Boxer's coat-tails, but they didn't, they held back, because something about the firm's DNA meant it was supposed to be driven with a degree of decorum. OK, so the Vantage was extremely fast and slightly brutalised, but not to these extremes.
Astons have never 'shouted excess'. This does.
