RE: Aston One-77 cracks 220mph
Discussion
I was very cynical of this, particularly the price tag, until I saw it at Hurlingham earlier in the year. It's a masterpiece and has some beautiful engineering. If it drives as good as it looks (which shouldn't be difficult given power/weight/suspension format) it will be a collectable item.

perhaps, unlike the Bugatti, it can do top speed without the driver having to call a man to come and change the tyres and use a special key to unlock top speed mode.
That could be to a degree answered by the fact that at 220mph the Bugatti has over 20mph to go.I'm taking a stab that the extra needed to go from 220 to nearer 250mph is ummmm rather alot.

Will it drive better than a Porsche? If so, why make only 77 copies?
How large do you think the world market is for £1M+++ cars? The interesting thing to know would be whether they make any profit on it. VW makes a loss on each Veyron sold.

It does look like a pretty fine Aston.
But I have to say that at £1.2m, 220mph is hardly a headline figure where you could do that about 20 years ago with an XJ220 Jag then 240+ with the McLaren F1 and subsequently a couple of Koenigsegg offerings and a Bugatti and each will save you a few quid.
I hope its amazing in some other way.

They descibe it automotive art ... well apparerntly one buyer has ordered two. One to 'drive' and the other to have strripped down and displayed as a piece of art!
I will be happy to see one and exstatic to get a ride in one!
Well done Aston!
If I could have one I think I would go for the raw carbon finish
regards,

I don't know, how can you put a price on something that stunning?
Quite easily. It's impressive but based purely on visuals, an Alfa 8c looks better and save over £1m.I love some Aston's but it's gotta be more than a 220mph pretty face for £1.2m. Alot more.

I have to say I don't really 'get' this car. Despite the fact it's quicker than their other offerings, it just seems like a more expensive, uglier version of the DB9 to me...
Personally I'd rather have a DBS thanks.
I agree, its like a Dimma wide body DBS, i'll need to see it in the Carbon fibre first?Personally I'd rather have a DBS thanks.
