RE: Driven: BMW X6M

X5M - BMW have seen the success of the Porsche Cayenne Turbo etc and need something to compete/win a slice of the pie.
X6M - I don't know why this car exists.
It's interesting isn't it how this shows that Porsche have the turbo badge for faster versions of their cars, but they reserve the GT3 and GT2 badges for truly special machines, whereas BMW just have the one "catch all" M brand. It's this broadness of the M badge that causes such offence when it's given to an off roader (muddy fields have nothing to do with Procar racing or Touring Car racing, which for many enthusiasts still defines the BMW M cars). I suppose the CSL badge is BMW's new "GT3"-esque badge, but it's just a shame that for enthusiasts like me the M badge will always mean a motorsport version of a car - low, lightweight, fast and feelsome (everything the X5 is not!). To be honest, this is just badge talk, what upsets me the most is what I explained a page or two ago, in that BMW are not purseing M versions of the 1 series and Z4, but instead bringing out an X5M and an X6M. This is shocking! Even if they do produce a 1M and a Z4M, it'll always be the case that they brought out "M" versions of their off roaders first. I'm left confused and disappointed by the decision to be honest.X6M - I don't know why this car exists.

A Harley? The bike for which you have to dress like a Village People person to ride?
Say that all you like....on the internet, just don't do it in person. Edited by robsti on Tuesday 29th December 16:50

The X6M owner must the nail franchise holder though, lol.
I gotta tell you though, i don't know what it is about Sutton Coldfield but all the big monstrosities round here are driven by women, honest to god, and they can't see out of them.
Learnt today that a pal's girlfriend's MX5 was reversed into by a woman in a huge thing, Q7 or summat, forget now. The woman gets out and said "why don't you drive a proper sized car, i can't see you down there".

And the Z4?! The 3.0 with the N52 engine has the lightest six cylinder engine on the market, developing 265bhp yet turning 40mpg on the motorway. The car itself has a near perfect balance, a superb driving position and is beautifully progressive and fluid to drive. I drive an Elise and race a single seater, plus I'm obsessed with the way cars drive and handling etc, and I chose a Z4 Coupé as my daily driver after test driving a range of cars in that price range, so I think that says a lot.
You consider these two cars (which score 4 & 5 stars in Evo against their peers in sports cars and coupés), along with even a new Z4M Coupé, a truly great performance icon, to be gay?!! What on earth is wrong with you?! And this is from the driver of a Q5 2.0Tdi and a Harley, two of the slowest and most wobbly ponderous machines ever built with absolutely zero feedback and handling, and the Q5 even has a lower power to weight ratio than a Micra! - but despite that they're certainly showy... which is, don't you think, the very definition of a gay car? Your other car appears to be a 645i, which is not a bad car really. However, imagine your 645i just half a tonne lighter and without the annoying throttle delay and you get a Z4C... As you imagine that half tonne being taken off the weight, the controls getting more responsive, the handling more nimble, the responses tighter, etc etc, at what point does the car become gay exactly?! Then drop a 400bhp V8 in and try and call it gay

I wont for a moment try and defend the riding dynamics of Harleys because they are total st but they do one thing better than most is hold there value!Previous bikes owned inclued GPZ900R, ZXR750RR, R1 so dont talk to me about lightness and power to weight ratio!
The definition of a gay car is one that makes the driver look like a girl not the car itself or how god it handles ie boxter,z4,mgf,slk,sl,206cc some of which are very good cars but classed as gay !imo.
Then the 645ci,It has been remaped to improve throtle response and adds anothere 30+ BHP.The z4 35i sDrive is only about 50kg lighter than the 645ci so if you plonk in a heavier v8 I doubt there will be a great weight saving! and I can take 4 people and there luggage in total comfort try that in your look at me gay car!
I am sorry if I offended you but I never slagged off your vehicles but if it makes you feel better about yourself and your cars to do it to others then so be it!
P.S As for the iconic Z4M coupe as you so call it! one off my mates got one of the first ones in the country who by the way raced Extremes ,Minis and carts sold it after 3 months because of the way it darted dangerously all over b roads which you would imagine would be its domain. Power is nothing without control!
Happy Newyear.
