I love the XF, why would anyone choose a 5 series instead?

Ask the same question again in about 18 months.
What ever the performance will be, the 5 looks already old !
What is exiting about the BMW exterior??? It is just another rep transport.
And the XFR interior is so much cooler, too. (see Bimmer pics)

Sorry, no Bimmer for me.

Jag XFR stays "King of Cool", also in 18 months !!!

What's your first language? At least one of might understand if you posted in that.

Edit: sieht aus als ob Sie deutsch sind. Ich habe den Eindruck, dass Ihre Posts kaum besser auf deutsch klingen wuerden.

Thanks a lot for your support!!! This is very kind of you.

But Zod's comments won't change my life, anyway.

AND I still think that the Jaguar XFR will be the coolest sedan around for some years to come.

Really wanted one of these, came close to buying one as well.

Unfortunately for me, I couldn't afford new.

I looked in envy as a few people round here acquired these beasts, though decided I'd made the right move when they brought out this *R* thing with the 500bhp. I would never have been happy with the lesser powered rascal.

I will have one, just a case of when.

Having said that, the new XJ looks an awesome beast doesn't it...

So many decisions, and a German thing which I love to possibly part-ex frown

C'mon Zod - time to 'fess up. The reason you've even peeped at this thread is that you secretly hanker after an XFR hehe It's time to trade in Dame Edna (M5) isn't it...?

Cut the BMW umbilical cord - things have moved on...

Quite right.

It is still rather silly to state that the XFR will continue to be "the coolest sedan" against cars that don't even exist yet.

Lovely car, and it seems a credible alternative to the usual suspects (M cars/AMG/RS) but I must take issue with the recent adverts that Jag is running, describing it as a:

'4-door coupe'

rage

Is 'saloon' not sexy enough to sell?

a very capeable car, no doubt about it - but, that rear end styling and badging is awful. Its just not "special" enough and is too mainstream like a mid-range Ford rather than a Jag. The leaping cat badge looks like a Halfords special that the owner has stuck on themselves.
(but I would be happy to borrow it for a few months)

The XFR is one of the few new cars that's really got my attention in the last couple of years. They slip under the radar a bit more than the German equivalents, which is good in my book.

It'll be a few years before they're within my price range, but I intend to have an XF (hopefully an R) at some point.

Not sure I agree on the styling comments. I think Jag should be commended that their models don't all look the same. Take Audi, it's now other than size quite difficult to tell the A4, A5, A6, A8 from each other as they all look pretty much the same. Similar story with BMW 3,5 and 7 series.

At least with the Jag the XF and new XJ are actually styled differently, although maybe I would select to 'delete' the leaper badge! biggrin

That's my dream car at the moment, which is something coming from me as I've never really liked Jags. It's also a fairly realistic prospect.

Well given that earlier pic of the new "spot the difference" 5-series, I think we can say it.

If I was in the market for an uber-saloon, the XFR would definitely be near the top of my list. Not yet in that sector though. I could supercharge the Mustang to get a similar power output, but I suspect it wouldn't be quite as refined... hehe

If anyone's that serious about driving in the snow/slush, especially in a RWD car they'll get themselves a set of black steelies and put winter tyres on them. I have them on my E39 and they make the world of difference.
