Bump (no fault claim )
So as it happens I have just received my Admiral Multi-Car renewal forms
Yet again I wonder if it is worth it and will Jog on from Admiral.
Going to separate covers for the three cars saves me £70 compared to the 'discount' MultiCar :
oh and on checking the MX5 insurance, Admiral single Car policy is £60 less than the cost of the MX5 within their Multicar policy , never mind the actual concept that Multi-Car should effectively give a Discount on the basis that Admiral can see that two owners can't continually drive three cars.
Makes my Piss boil - and companies wonder why their is little brand alliagency ! (spl?)
If you ring renewals with the single car quote you have had from admiral they will match the price, reason its lower on the internet quote will be mainly down to the fact we give very large discounts on internets quote,as you have done an internet quote your entitled to it and will be matched (aslong as certain details match i.e. claims history etc).So as it happens I have just received my Admiral Multi-Car renewal forms

Although multicar is designed cheaper for people with more than one car obviously multicar cant guarantee to be cheaper than everyone that would be impossible but if you ring the renewals dept im sure they will try there best to remain competative.
edit run single car quote or a mulitcar quote through the admiral website it may come in cheaper and we can maych it then.

We've got a multicar policy for our dailies. Seems to work well - not expensive and actually very helpful. Just called them on Monday to change a vehicle over and the chap on the phone knew what he was about, gave a competitive quote and very utterly polite. Can't say fairer than that. Sooner use them than Flux...
I've a multi car policy, have been with them for ages. Will change to a single car policy this year probably as we'll only have one car and I'll buy a classic towards the summer but will probably renew with Admiral.
Customer service has been excellent, always friendly, often quite chatty and they actually do everything they say. Staff know the product that they're supporting and they don't continually push things like breakdown cover (though they always mention it)
They allow me to drive any car 3rd party, even if it has no other policy on it and they'll add any car to the policy for a week for a fairly reasonable amount (Porsche 928 S4 - £21)
Only downer was that they wouldn't cover me fully comp on the continent until I was 25.

Don't get me wrong, when the OH bumped the car in a car park (poor Yaris vs LR) Admiral were GREAT and helpful on the phone.
Zollar, I hear what you are saying and would / will do as you posted, it does just piss me off though.
I should not have to do it or more to the point I shouldn't have to 'mistrust' "The Best Quotes we have for you" should I, and go and check to find low and behold it isn't the best, and in fact internally it can be done for less.
(esp. when I did the same last year)
Zollar - nothing Personal, and appreciate your honesty and team spirit
It's ok i understand what your saying, unfortunately its just how business is done not just us but most insurers offer internet discounts one consilation is that at least we will match a new customer price where as some other industries wont i.e. mobile phone contracts etc . hopefully we can remain competative for you if not im glad your happy with the service you've had and hopefully we'll be competative in the future.Zollar, I hear what you are saying and would / will do as you posted, it does just piss me off though.

campdavid do you mind me asking when you queried this with admiral? procedures have changed in the last few months and there is no limit on age now with regards to the european cover aslong as your named on the car euro cover will cover you! Just switch over from tesco's who wanted £1600 renewal, up from £1300 despite being a year older and another years no claims bonus
Down to £750 with my missus on policy
Also Admiral are the only company i can get to insure me on a group 20 car
I didn't like the idea of multi car i have 5 cars in the house and would of gave me X% drop to £480 a year BUT my family saved more money just by shopping about
Good prices for me
ps, bird on the phone sounded tasty

Quick comment, changed cars, went through the whole thing, quick, painless, didn't cost much, all good.
However, I need to tax the car to drive it home. Docs come out in the post, no chance of e-mail or download so I end up having to pay a chunk in storage fees or risk driving without tax. Any plans to change this?

When I bought my MX5 last September, it was cheapest to change from an existing single-car Admiral policy on my BMW to a multi-car policy with both. That's because they duplicated the NCB across for the second car. Both insured for a total of £550 per year; other quotes were £400+ for the Mazda alone.
I will look carefully when the renewal comes round, because with some NCB already built up for the second car, I think the benefit will be rather marginal.

The company is having a new IT system this year replacing the current one, once in place we should be able to email certificates, also customers will have their own "access portal" you have your own password which you login to on the website and all your insurance info so if you need a new certificate there will be no need to ring the company you and just print a copy off. However, I need to tax the car to drive it home. But it'll probably be at least a year to a year and a half until the full system is in place (I don't know the full technical details unfortunately).

Zollar, can Admiral provide extended comp cover for EU? By extended I mean more than the usual 90 days.
Thanks!
Unfortunately no, I have been asked by policyholders previously and its declined, possibly one of the reasons is that the T+Cs require a policyholder to not be out of the country more than 90 days (3 months) per policy term .Thanks!
