Always amazes me how many people slate PORSCHE AND FERRARI on here, its beautifully built no doubt, shatteringly fast, and looks pretty horny to me. whats not to like??? This is supposed to be a car nuts website isnt it??? What is up with all the haters, i could not afford the wheel nuts on this thing, but i will still be a happy bunny when i eventually see one blast by. Everyone has different tastes i know, but allot of the comments seem just a little bitter.
Good post Sir, well balanced and appreciative of the auromotive art. There are a lot on here that are not in a position to afford 'exotica' so slag it off. I happen to like Porsche, but could never afford a new Turbo SEdited by SCREWBOY on Wednesday 10th February 22:31
For the record regarding other posters, my 993tt is a luxury that I have worked towards all my life.
Yes, I bought it knowing that I am never, EVER, going to use it to its full capabilities.
Yes, I know it is probably a vanity purchase to make me look good. If to other people it does, fine, if it doesn't, then I don't give a flying F**K, cos it does make me feel good. How many of you do things that make you feel good?
And while we're into vanity I presume any car capable of more than 70 mph is obviously a 'Vanity Purchase'
Another vanity question:
Take a BMW 5 series. Some people buy a standard 520, de-badge it and add big wheels to make it look like an M5.
Next man buys a 550 and de-badges it to not stand out and shout money.
(It's OK chaps, we just count the exhaust pipes )

Most boring supercar ever? I'd say so
Here you go sir, you will need one of these.[imgflamesuit[/img]
I just think that of all the exotica out there, if I had £120k to spend on a car, it wouldnt be a Porsche. And even if you wanted to buy one for posing in, average joe wouldnt be able to tell apart a bog standard Carrera and the Turbo S

Give me a GT3 any day for tooling about in, and an RS6 if I REALLY need an every day car that is comfy and also stupidly fast to the point you never go WOT.
Dave
Just because it'll do the 0-60(or 62) dash with rapidity and go on to over 200mph (which knowing Porsche it will) doesn't make it pointless for public roads...if anything it further reduces the T.E.D when overtaking, so therefore makes it safer...;) (unless it's being driven poorly, of course)Give me a GT3 any day for tooling about in, and an RS6 if I REALLY need an every day car that is comfy and also stupidly fast to the point you never go WOT.

The problem with this car is that it is an S.
When people ask what car you drive you will answer A 911 Turbo S.
To which they will reply, Turbo S? how is that different to a Turbo?
You will then go off on one explaining this, which you will, half way through they will have hanged themselves from the nearest light fitting.
For me this says more about the quality of your mates than the quality of the car! When people ask what car you drive you will answer A 911 Turbo S.

Can't you people speak English, what the fek is WOT?

On most roads where TED really matters for overtaking, and you have good TED, my worry these days is adverse cambers, traction issues, pot holes etc, and the behaviour of the overtakee.
Overtaking is rarely WOT and hold on the more power you have to reduce TED (in my experience)

Excellent post from turbo ww, I for one saved every penny I could to get my 21 year old 3.2 911 last year, I sacrificed a lot and ride around in a daily banger to stretch the pennies to keep the 911. I do this because I am an enthusiast, because I appreciate the marque, because I wanted one since I was in short pants!! I didn't do it for vanity or poser value (truth is only a handful of friends know I own it, no one in my village has a clue!!!)
Folk should rememeber these forums are for 'petrol-heads' not for idiots driving 1.0 litre micras to spout a load of rubbish about things they know nothing about.

As someone who has ordered the car my opinion is different to those on here not in my position.
The standard turbo is a fantastic car but if you spec the same options on that car, that the turbo s has as standard you more or less get to the same price anyway so what is all the price fuss about, you get a miniscule improvement in HP in reality but if its the same price why wouldnt you take it, you do get rarity and maybe better residuals which is always a small plus but yes above all you get the range topper car which if you can why not.

A bit like those who sit at home and slate various premier league football players for what they do on pitch... because of course they could do better... and of course they could manage a premiership team better.... maybe it's because the 911 isn't footballer enough?
People always seem to have a bee in their bonnet about porsche 911's and their shape not changing much over the years... so let them! I don't think there's a problem, Porsche sell enough of them!

Nice. What colour and spec have you gone for and when are the deliveries supposed to start? The standard turbo is a fantastic car but if you spec the same options on that car, that the turbo s has as standard you more or less get to the same price anyway so what is all the price fuss about, you get a miniscule improvement in HP in reality but if its the same price why wouldnt you take it, you do get rarity and maybe better residuals which is always a small plus but yes above all you get the range topper car which if you can why not.
I havent had to choose spec or colour yet as that will be during the summer.
I do want the carbon fibre backed race seats as they are no extra costs and very comfortable, I think tyhe aerokit adds to the look, probabaly the mid grey but white looks a possibility, you dont need to order much more.
Its likley that the order will need to be confirmed in July for a Dec/jan delivery

Why? Because I can.
Ask people why they climb mountains. Because they are there is usually the answer
