Another Chelsea tractor...isn't it enough with Mr J. T. Erry alledgedly ploughing furrows himself?

Look OK but not sure about the knock-off Focus ST / Gallardo wheels...lacking a bit of imagination

Those wheels have been available on the current X5 since it came out in 2007 so I don't think BMW stole the design from either.
THe galardo came out in late 2003 i believe though with the ST about a year later so I would argue that BMW did infact steal the design.

Looks hideous! Especially in that colour. Surely, no one can honestly like the looks of the thing..

Another pointless 'status symbol' for aggressive/poor drivers.

At least they're bulky enough to be seen and given a wide berth....

Honestly BMW you've filled every niche possible, except the one i want....
Can you imagine the arguments between the RWD & 4WD brigade if that were to happen? hehe

Is it just me or is this starting to take the hideous lines of the X3?

It's you. The X3 got his hideous lines from the X5.

That said, I liked the X5 (as much as you can like a "chelsea tractor"). But it's getting to agressive, looking bigger everytime and becomming Q7-ugly.

I'd take an older X5 or the current ML any day tough. (as a daily family driver)

BMW have really screwed up with this new badging- even for petrolheads its hard to understand!
sdrive50i would mean 2 wheel (rw) drive, xdrive50i means 4wd. it's not that hard, but it is silly.

awesome about the engine improvements! pity about the car (really don't like the X5, or anything like that e.g. Q7, ML merc, cayenne etc)
Thought the "X" in X5 (or X1/X3 for that matte)r stood for X-Drive already. Why say it twice?

I have an '05 X5 3.0 Diesel with sport suspension. That's all SUV (err, SAV) I need. I don't get the concept of super SUVs! I guess, it's me who's thick because they sell like hot cakes. I've read that the best selling Cayenne model is GTS.

Still a knobbers car.

If I bought one, every time I pulled up next to a Range Rover at the lights, I would die a little inside.

That's exactly what I thought when I saw the pics. I'm no fan of the X range in general but usually BMW refreshes make the car look a bit better, in this case it's done the opposite IMO.

I think its daft because the X5 only comes in 4wd anyway - why not call it the X548, X550 etc, in the same way you get a 520 and 535 et al. Its not ideal I grant you, but its better than this mess.

Nomenclature matters biggrin
Exactly- Thats how its always been, even with the previous generation x5, so why bring in all this sdrive stuff?

I liked my X5 when I had one - it was comfy, quite fast and brilliant at long distance motorway driving. And fine for light off road stuff at events and similar.

I do not like the colour used on the promotional shots shown here.

The 3 and 5 series touring with 4WD would fairly kick Audi into touch with the sales figures I would have thought. Really don't know why they haven't given it a go.

Have you seen the latest Range Rover? It's been facelifted to look more like the Range Rover Sport, with more chrome on the grille; I'm sure it looks fine in California, but over here it looks a bit vulgar. Next to that the X5 is rather understated!

Thanks for that.

My wife likes her X5. I like my Range Rover. They are very different cars to drive and to live with. The X5 does somethings better the Range Rover does other things better.
