I've been taking 'lessons' on what constitutes a chav plate from a few of the members on here for a couple of days.
The more I get into it, the more I can read between the lines.
The more I read between the lines, the more it seems to me that number plate chavness - according to the rule book I've yet to see - has very little to do with misrepresentation and everything to do with value, pure and simple.
I'm really trying not to see it that way because there are several names for that sort of attitude and, well, I think most of us would rather be considered Chav .
If the website your profile links to is yours and you do sell plates, I'm sure you can see the inverse link between value and misrepresentation. That is to say:
 • Plates that actually look like they say something (and therefore don't need to be misrepresented) are the most valuable
 • Plates that need to be misrepresented because they don't say anything are worth less
It is the latter plates that are chav, in the same way that Chav jewellery is attempting to look like what it's not; pretending to be made of gold, or have diamonds in. It's vulgar enough to show off what you've got, but to show off what you can't afford is even worse.

Along that vein, the website your profile links to actually suggesting ways in which plates could be misrepresented is also chav IMHO.
Here you are - there's just one simple rule:

If the plate has BASU145d printed in the bottom right hand corner indicating it complies with the regulations, and there's been no attempt to missrepresent whatever registration it displays with strategically placed screw caps or bolts then its not Chav.

Anything else, no matter what the combination of letters, bolt heads and numbers are attempting to spell most certainly is very Chav indeed.

Incidentally, strikes me there's an awful lot of aspirational German metal on here that spectacularly fails my Chav test. Says it all really... wink

Have you had a look on the other threads? My word, it's embarrassing.

"Ooh! Look everyone I've just got SS11MNN! My name is Simon!"

Oh, I though it was Ssiimnn judging by the plate you've got.
absolutely!.. somebody (maybe you) has also mentioned that whilst the 11 plate release has created a lot of 'clever' word variations, it also means everybody's gonan need a brand new car to put them on.. Or have a lot of people forgotten you can't put 11 plate on older car?
That was me. I've had to explain it to someone at work today too.

There's still some great plates for sale that don't need any illegal spaces or coloured bolts in order to encrypt them...

eBay is throwing up some great ones. I like CL11 MAX. Perhaps I should have bought that to compliment mine, and then started a collection on the same lines wink

I'm not convinced WE11 SUE will make £100k though or AV11 LAN the £25k  BIN price !

My mate bought "SH11ZLE" today. I sent him this definition from the urban dictionary!

Urban dictionary says.. Originated in medival England in the 17th century, this phrase has changed in meaning completely, from the orignal shorthand denotation of "Alas! An advasary has come upon us! To the catupults!" to the modern definition of "Please grease up my penis."
Old: Bartholomew, the dastardly barbains are attacking! Foe Shizle mine nizle!

New: bh step up! Fo shizzle my nizzle!

Today I saw J6 KKT on a Corsa, though the T was butchered to look like an I (in fact it looked more like a 1 from more than 5 yards away, definitely a T up close). Just in case it wasn't obvious to anyone, the car also sported a badge next to "CORSA" which read "JAKKI".

I was on my motorcycle, so was unable to photograph it.

I know this has been discusses more times than the birth of Christ, but I really like them, as a pair or individually. They're in the wrong thread.

Oh, and the pic is about as old as JC too.

the question is whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer the slings and arrows of such repeated pictures, or to take arms against those uploading them teacher

Not far off,

Got to laugh at this quote from that link -

"As i no longer have the mustang i feel it is only right that someone with one can experience the joys of having the perfect plate."

Pointing out the blindingly obvious but MUSTANC isnt it, is it now. biggrin

Saw a real nasty earlier today parked near my flat: A vast black Cadillac SUV (an Escalade?) wearing the truly poor and badly spaced plate "UF0 4 ART".

Huh?

Has Sotheby's gone into the little green men business?
