Ah, that's the same colour as my old one. Mine was a 1988 2.2 and went like a train.
Fabulous machine that I hung onto for years - and the popping and banging while heel and toeing never failed to make me smile.
Ooooh yeah....Fabulous machine that I hung onto for years - and the popping and banging while heel and toeing never failed to make me smile.
[quote]Mine had the removable steel sunroof, which my mates thought was a hangover from WW2 Tiger tanks - once removed you could stand on the seats and feel like a proper tank commander..
I was on my third one before I realised this slides into a holder at the top of the boot when removed...

Whatever happened to Trailblazers?
Me no getty reference I'm aware the exhaust was a tight fit (and my bumper needed some blackening), it was a Scorpion prototype they only made very few of but the noise was worth the slightly dodgy appearance.
I miss that noise
Wanders off to watch Pikes Peak videos..

Looks very nice your old car anyway
Aaah... Yeah, in fact you'd need to get about that close to see the COUPE wording, it wasn't very obvious. You can write me up for tinted rear lights too
Also worth mentioning these are 2+2 coupes, there's 2 bucket seats in the back a la Panamera. You can wedge someone in the middle but 4 up they're excellent cruisers.

The 5 cylinder makes such a nice noise. My mate's girlfriend had one. Good comfortable and reliable car. Don't see many about these days. I bet the advertised car will make a reliable runaround.
PS Those Tailblazer things were a funny fad! I recently threw one away which was on the back of an otherwise immaculate Porsche 924. It said.... PORSCHE (Wow!) and included a crappy bracket to relocate the number plate and illuminating lamp. How silly. It looked much better as the factory intended.

Yay!
They never did a 2.3, that was the later ones. The 2226cc was the biggest.
The Early 2144cc is called the 2.2 and the later 2226cc was called the 2.3 to differentiate them. They never did a 2.3, that was the later ones. The 2226cc was the biggest.

1050kg according to this for the 2.0:

But 980kgs for the 1.8L version which this weeks shed is.http://www.carfolio.com/specifications/models/car/...

Just shows despite all efforts at weight saving materials how bloated cars have become.

The 'trailblazer' I think you are referring to that says 'coupe' is a standard part. Looks great with the dark rear lights of the later coupes.PS Those Tailblazer things were a funny fad! Back in 1995 I owned one of these as an 18yr old at university. Sadly is was only a B-reg 1.8 but it looked great in Tornado red (one door faded as expected) with a brown velour interior. Most of my friends has 1.0L Mk 2 fiestas or Unos at the time so it was quite impressive and I enjoyed owning it.
I always remember my mum bought the last set of main dealer 'faded' audi rings and 'coupe' window graphics in the country as a present.
On reflection the alloys were pathetic (14inch) and I couldn't afford to upgrade to 15s!! The red paintwork was a sod to keep bright and one door top was matt and pinky. The brown interior was horrid and the suspension was wallowy.
I sold it after less than a year and bought a mk2 Golf Gti which was so much more fun. If they really do have the same engine then the weight of the audi really blunts the performance!!
Would I buy one today? Only if it was a 5 cylinder quattro and in grey!!

Yup, just some had 20v instead of 10v heads.
We had a 5 pot F-reg GT (in black), after my Dad decided a UR quattro was going to cost too much to run. According to the garage it had a quattro engine number - so I wonder if that meant it had the 20v head?It was a great car. I remember the nose rising as you booted it. I also remember touring France in it for 3 weeks with my girlfriend - happy days.
I've had four of them, plus a 5pot 80 Quattro. Loved them all. Only one was a 4cyl and I always missed the burble of the 5cyl on it.
Drove loads of miles and even had one of them to Paris and back.
Problems? One headlamp switch in total.
Bombproof and full of charachter. Would have another in a minute.
