PS Though to be fair the interior is great, and that's where you spend most of your time.
Dunno, maybe I'm not moving with the times. But the pic in this article shows a sea of gray IMO.And take a look at the hidous steering wheel, looks like something from FisherPrice!
I like my wood and leather!
The new XJ does nothing for me, and yes I have seen it in the flesh.
Many years ago I had a couple of S111 XJ's and they were the most relaxing, comfortable means of travel ever, you could cure headaches just by going for a gentle waft.Since then I've had many 'luxury'cars (including Jags) all probably handled better but none came close for that cosy feeling of well being. This just looks like it will carry on that fine tradition,I do hope so. It almost makes me wish to rejoin the ratrace and the company car scheme, perhaps I'll just wait a few years but probably not get a Montego/800 blue one!
Sounds like they've managed to get the handling closer to the XF without losing the comfort & refinement of the old XJ - could be the perfect compromise & I'm dying to get behind the wheel to find out.
I was lucky enough to do the factory tour before Christmas so have seen all of the colours available. Darker shades definitely work better, whether it be black, blue or green. The red also looked fantastic. All of the white examples seemed to have Japan or the USA as their destination though, so I doubt if many will be seen on our roads.

I want one really badly even more so since i became a jag owner, definitely one of the best looking modern cars. Despite loving my XJ40 I'm glad jaguar have moved on both internally and externally. To me this looks like a great place to be sat:
Who are the people who were missing the wood?I see a lot of (even curved) wood here! And it looks fantastic.
One of the nicest interiors on the market from my point of view.

I really want to like this car. I have a real soft spot for Jaguar. I don't dislike it as such ... it's just that it sort of leaves me cold. Those blacked out bits on the C pillar are particularly unsuccessful (praps why it looks better in black).
The outgoing Jaguar XJ looks coherent in its design. The new car seems almost to have been designed by a committee. It is true that it has a 'modern' side profile ...... but then for 'modern' read very similar to the 70s Rover SD1.
Perhaps it will grow on me .... and I've no doubt it will be lovely to drive in common with most Jags. As it stands though if I was in the market for a big saloon I'd probably buy an Audi ..... or even save some dosh and buy a Passat CC.

All this nonsense about moving the game on.
Just because it looks different, doesn't mean it looks better.
Some designs are just classics.
I agree, this XJ is THE real classic Jaguar sedan. It has presence, it looks low and elegant which makes it a true sports sedan. THE sports sedan!Just because it looks different, doesn't mean it looks better.
Some designs are just classics.
It will become a classic as the 3.8 MkII. Especially as XJR.
I love this car and I've got one. And I keep this or another one for long time, perhaps for ever.
But the new one takes a lot of this into the future in a new and daring interpretation. Presence, class, elegance! And the right amount of entertaining pantomime. What else do you need?
(Well, besides loads of power)
I think, Jaguar did the right steps and took the correct dosis to keep a broad customer base of enthusiasts who admire beauty and things a little out of the ordinary!
One day, perhaps not so far, I may have both! This classic XJ and the new XJ.
(But now I am very keen on a XFR. It's more of a rubber burner.)
But I keep my XJR.

It is stunning, and has a great range of options, def the best interior i have ever sat in, ivory and oyster trim with oak is pretty sweet for wood/leatherOne of the nicest interiors on the market from my point of view.
Though this is my personal fave from the ones i have seen, dove and black with carbon trim on premium luxury, works especially well with the pimpy blue lighting i think

Also agreed. If it had an Infiniti badge on it, they'd all slag it off.www.specsavers.co.uk
It's six years old FFS and still piddles all over the competition.
The rear lights of the Jag look exactly like those on the new Lancia Delta HPE. Is that good or bad?
I think the interior looks too 'heavy' and claustrophobic. In its defence, it does look well finished.
I'm still looking forward to seeing one on the road. I might even consider buying one if I needed four doors.

And if you are in for a new car and are not keen on a Jaguar XF, - go for the Passat CC then! It's a beauty! It has lots of style and is also more unusual then all those Audi rep' mobiles you see all over the place. And it is very entertaining to drive.

I think the new 7-series looks extremely nice
But that's all it is.Nice.
Extremely nice even.
But utterly forgettable, another highly competent German land yacht.
That XJ looks as though it will be a real event on wheels. Not pretty like the '68 original but certainly striking with evidence of some real imagination. In the 40's and 50's Jaguars were cut price Bentleys and that's just what this is. Bravo Jaguar!

I've seen a couple of them around (I live not to far from MIRA) and I every time I see one I like them even more! I am a german car fan but I hope this XJ is as good as I want it to be! I've been considering an XF as my next car but I've been holding off untill I've seen the new 5 series m sport, the latest batch of Jaguars are beginning to become more and more appealing, good work Jaguar!
