countach. red, late model with all the wings & spoilers. used to come visit a neighbour from time to time when i was 8-9ish. guy that owned it would tell us what it was.......

.....which, when I found out what a q plate meant and that he sold it to buy a sierra, meant I had an early encounter with a misbadging poser.

still, it made me get dad to run me to the model shop to spend my piggy bank on the tamiya countach kit. bought the stratos one too smile

a couple of years later, a kid at our school was dropped off and picked up everday in a 512tr. he should have been playground royalty, but the sad fact was that he was called tristam, had the only cut glass accent in a northern state comprehensive, and was bullied mercilessly. awesome car though, gunmetal and red leather, daddy loved gunning it away from the gates and it sounded sublime.

As a child reading about Thrust 2 in a book, I was fascinated by it. It looks so much like the batmobile in the original Tim Burton Batman film.

I even wrote a huge essay on it as a project in the junior school. As the work neared completion, my brother informed me that the record had been broken by Thrust SSC ages ago. I took a fit and tore up my handwritten work hehe

E36 M3 3.0 Coupé in Dakar Yellow at a car show. Remember just loving it at the time! Still a car I very much like nowadays too.

I always used to shout, "One of those cars for the man who runs the Country!".

Damn I miss being 3 years old.

A TVR chimera that passed me on a hill while on my mountain bike aged 17. I was raised on 2 stroke screaming motorcross bikes and to see and hear and engine hurl a car so fast while sounding so lazy and unstressed stuck in my memory.

Oh yes, and I collected pictures, magazines and posters of the Countach.

There was one red one in particular that I recall. I even remember the plate: "C701 BYX". I think a PH-er owns it now. It was for sale a couple of years ago and I emailed the seller to tell him "my" history of the car smile

Aston Martin DB5 when I was watching James Bond, though when I was a kid I wanted a Sierra Sapphire Cosworth when I caught a glimpse of one parked on a forecourt.

However I much more prefer Aston Martins

It was an e39 540 (i think). It was my dads mates and parked next to his porshe 911 and all i remember was the e39 having a phone and a tv in a car. I remember asking my dad for weeks to buy one.

It was a very long time ago. I was about ten years old and we lived in a very ordinary part of Dublin. The house next door was rented out one time to an Iranian student. He had a Facel Vega. It was simply beyond anything I had ever seen. He drove me in it a few times and showed me the record player which played one 45 rpm disk at a time.
I remember it very well. The car was brand new.

My old man was very good about taking me to motor racing events. I vividly recall seeing one of these in Mod Sports as a 5 year old. Subsequently drew one in my school book spinning at Cascades at Oulton Park. It must've been one of my very first pieces of school work, I guess. Took me 20 years to afford a Lotus of my own.

For me it was the Escort Cosworth. I was obsessed with them! Still would dearly love to own one, but probably unlikely to happen. I'd settle for a go in one, although they say you should never meet your hero's...
