Your best bet would be to strip it for parts, there are bound to be some bits that are still usable. What engine has it got?
3.0 TD6. We don't want the effort of selling each part individually. Reckon there will be anyone who will take it as a whole?Cheers for the support, we're starting to see the funny side now, a lot of piss taking going on!
(sorry to hear this news. you're very brave for sharing it on here. hope you get something for it).

My Dad is now just using his other car and my brother his Jazz, so we won't be replacing it soon.
A Jazz.. What is that worth? About £5k? Thats nearly half your dads money back for the Rangie right there Get the lil scrote to deal with breaking and ebaying parts from the wrecked Rover and perhaps your dad will get a few grand back from that too. All in all, not too big a financial loss, and your bro rightly pays the price while learning a valuable lesson.

well, electronics wise you'll have a flooded engine/transmission ecu.
if the water damage as bad as I recon you'll be looking at a clock pack, a new screen unit, audio amp and control unit. You will also probably need an airbag module, security pack, new interior fusebox. suspension ecu. ALL the airbags will need to be replaced..
JUST the electronics bill will be over £7k before fitting... assuming that you're given trade rates. Then there is the programming, and LR won't touch that, you'll have to use a specialist (there are a number out there).
Then you'll have all the interior refurbishment. You'll have to drain all the transmission fluid, and the diff oils as water will have been taken in through the breathers.
Repair bill wise, you've got to be looking at £11-12k minimum really. IF you can find people to do the work, no-one will offer warrenties due to the nature of the work etc.. it'll be a long, messy job to put that one strait.

Won't all the Chasis need work because theyh have been sitting in salt water for 12 hrs or so?

Whatever you do with it tell us how it turns out. But if it does go the eBay route make sure you describe it correctly otherwise it could turn nasty.
'Fully submerged for a full saltwater tide' should say all he needs to say.Too many respondents here are thinking about the cost of restoring the car to 'as factory'.
This car can be restored to to a suitable state that will make a buyer in some far flung corner of the globe VERY happy for not too many £££s. The wealth of skill within the great railway arches of this isle will soon see to that.

is there no way the Policy holder could claim and be compensated as i'm sure it would work out financially better?
I know someone who had her car nicked by her (no licensed) brother, who (pissed up) parked it into a wall...Insurance wouldn't pay out because it was a family member who stole it... apparently...
Firstly, there's no way you can let your brother get away with it.
Secondly, you then need to beat the crap out of yourself for allowing him to drive it. Whilst I feel sorry for you for the loss of your car I think too many kids drive around in cars they don't deserve to drive. He is obviously way to stupid to be allowed to drive a car like that. However that said he didn't hurt anyone and that is the most important thing!
Thirdly if the car is only worth 12k I reckon you can salvage an awful lot off the car and probably recoup maybe 3 or 4 grand! Think alloys, tyres, everything plastic etc
Your brother needs to learn his lesson and pay you back the money...if you let him off you're just letting him know it's ok to screw up and someone else will bail him out. Toughen him up and he'll respect you (and himself) in the long run!
Good luck,
