996s are very good cars that are great to drive.

Can you please not post stuff like that, I would much rather people said they were ste and broke on a daily basis to keep prices falling for a year or two.

redcard

Don't come on here with your opinions based on having actually experienced the subject in question. That's not on.

I want people to realise just how good the 996 is, so that people stop going on about it's immediate predecessor and pushing the fooking prices up even further and making a purchase even harder to get past 'er indoors.

hehe I have permission for a 987 Boxster (but I have to save up) but would have to consider a 996 seriously, a 997 would be lovely but 05 cars are still £30,000 plus frown

GT3s are getting close to my budget now and surely will bottom out soon?

God I'd love one of those.

Would a turbo not be more fun than a GT3? I tend to prefer NA cars to turbo but at the same price is it an easy choice?

I shouldn't really post on threads like this, I can feel the temptation to sell something, fall out with SWMBO and just buy something I really want building. <Draws up list of reasons to go to the breakfast meet at Malton next month>

See, I'm looking at the advert that started this thread and thinking "that's a lot of car for the money, how much more can it depreciate?"

I suspect the answer is "about 15K".

A think they are a great subtle, value for money machine.

Personally, I would just ignore RMS until the clutch needed changing.

Maybe the early cars are a bit of a risk in terms of RMS and quality issues like rust around the door catches. However these quality issues affect the price of later cars where he risks are less which makes them a bargain.
If the prices stay low I'll be buying one when I come back to Europe and the running costs are pretty reasonable when you consider the performance. When I looked into them specialist servicing wasn't any worse than an M3.

I agree - lots of cars used to leak oil but it's not so common these days so any that do tend to be regarded with undue suspicion.
