So they'll take it from somewhere else then.

They can either cut services, borrow more or tax more.

Which do you prefer?

i prefer more tax on fuel - infact another 25p would suit me per litre as i think we should get the deficit down

i'd also raise income tax too

Just looking back at this thread and realised how petrol has gone up so much in a short period. Filled up at £1.39 in Northampton yesterday - Just a normal Shell garage on a dual carriageway with a BP station at the same price just a mile up the road on the opposite side.

Yep both local stations for me, I was shocked how much it had gone up in a week or so. £50 to fill up a Fiesta ST! I remember those £37 days

Just had my petrolprices.com email - and all my local stations have gone up 3ppl in the last week. Unbelieveble.

The thing is that although I have noticed a decrease in weekend traffic to a small extent, it hasn't had any effect on my daily Milnrow <-> Leeds M62 commute so I've not reaped any benefit from the increased expense. Almost all the traffic on that route is white van man/wagons/base Germans, so obviously company users not paying for fuel. There are quite a few obviously private cars sitting at 50 in lane 1 (must be to save fuel) too, which are getting in the way of trucks and causing holdups, so in some ways it's got worse mad

Cost me £80 to fill up my Corrado VR6 from empty over the weekend with Optimax at, I think, around £1.40 a litre.

Ridiculous frown

Seem to have gone up again... above the rises earlier in the year. I am seeing 116p for unleaded at the local supermarket and 119p on the motorway.

Oil is $80 per barrel. Not $140 at the peak of the last bubble

Just how much higher will it go in 2010 ? Any guesses.....
This is the original posting above, dated 10th March

Now at over £1.40 in just 2 months!

Price of oil = $100-110

I am confused at the price of this stuff when it ends up refined and at the pumps... it seems to follow the price of oil as it goes up but there's no correlation to it starts to drop again.
