Can you tell us about steering feel, is it a bit lifeless or can feel everything that's going on?
Far from lifeless. The R8 coupe's steering is a proper old chatterbox, but the Spyder is a bit less communicative - the softer spring rate4s can probably be thanked for that...
DAMMIT Riggers!!!! You still havent mentioned the handsfree kit!!!!!!!!

Fine Ill do it sighmoan

Right its been discovered by a certain forum member me that the R8 spyder has a very clever and seemingly innovative handsfree hit.
It has three flat mics built into the seatbelts and one built into the bulkhead over the wiindscreen. When making a call it detects which mike has best pickup quality and uses that one for the call meaning even roof down sound quality during a call is supposed to be excellent.

There you go. Didn't need to, did I? wink

A bit remiss of me though - and I have to admit I didn't try it out - the call of the V10 was a little more alluring...

Too much like a TT...I have to look twice

I think it looks very nice indeed. I think I want one...
It's pretty impressive, the range of quality cars emerging from the VW/Audi stable.

Yup, I like it. One of the very rare occasions where the drophead version looks better than the coupe. Nice.

Mine is arriving in Maybiggrin I ordered it about two and a half years ago before Audi had even announced the car. I had a preview of the car at my local dealer and believe me it is stunning and not in any way like a TT, and I should know I bought one for my wife. The car that was on display was brown which to my mind is a very poor colour.
I decided to choose white with black leather because its sort of classic and I may not keep it that long, so it should be easier to sell on.
Roll on May.

Well done. Good for you.

I think you'll get bored of it earlier than you think however. Can't quite put my finger on it, but there is something missing with the R8. IMO. smile

But then, I may be talking cobblers. It would'nt be the first time. I think I need to give an R8 V10 a good thrashing to find out - anyone care to lend me one for the weekend?

I,m not bored with my R8 which I have owned for the past couple of years in fact I love driving mine.I'm still besotted with itlaugh If I were to sell the Spyder I would almost certainly buy another R8, although it would most probable to be the V10 version.

Here you go:

I see they've used £1.50 of the development budget on the roof.

Doesn't matter, not that you'd drive it with the hood up anyway.

I for one think it looks better than the coupé, solely because it doesn't have that Neil Buchanans Art Attack design panels on the sides.

Mine has the later wheels which I'm thinking of painting gloss black just like one of the show cars.
I shall have extreme pleasure putting the roof up an down, not least because its a work of art, but simply, just because I can.biglaugh

I've had my V10 Spyder for just over 6 months and it is probably the best all around sports drop top I have ever owned and I've owned quite a few. It's superbly built, holds the road brilliantly, is so easy to move quickly through bends, sounds amazing, (with or without the roof up) and in black, looks awesome, (so I am constantly told).

Never had a car that gets so much attention, from everyone, kids to grannies. And if you have to look twice figuring out if you see an R8 coming at you (or indeed following one) from a TT then I suggest you book yourself into spec savers double quick. There really is little to compare bar the four rings.

Ahh, now, don't start me on the luggage carrying capability, or lack off. 100Ltrs?! They must have been mad. For the last 3 years I have been to LeMans in various Corvettes, C6/ZO6. Quite well the hell I am going to put anything at all bar a toothbrush in the R8 chop top I have no idea. But with the looks and the performance, I dont really care! Let's just hope I don't get pulled up this year for another 750 Euro fine. ouch....

hehe once the 'boot' is full you think to use the space behind the seats....wrong!

Super fast car, sounds great too. My Mother screamed for me to slow down when I took her out in it.
