Bugatti Saloon Back In Black

Picture gallery: 16C Galibier 'concept' in new colourway

PistonHeads hasn't yet made it onto the illustrious list of invitees to Bugatti's motorshow bashes - but we heard about one pre-Geneva where the 16C Galibier was due to be rolled out.

So while we continue to polish our 'social climbing' skills, we can do no more than offer you this picture gallery of the new Bugatti saloon in glistening black and leathery tan. Mere crumbs from Bugatti's Geneva table perhaps (sob!), but better than nothing.

Those who've got closer to the horse's mouth tell us the Galibier - while officially still a concept - looks increasingly likely to reach production in 2012 when Bugatti is due to stop making Veyrons.

The Galibier uses the Veyron W16 engine, but with twin superchargers rather than the four-pack of turbos appended to the existing car.

The new saloon (if it appears) is likely to boast 800bhp and lay claim to the title fastest saloon car in the world. It's also unlikely to give you much change from a million squid.

Impressive, but I wouldn't tick the illuminated wheel centrecaps box myself.

I preferred it in two-tone. Now it looks too generic, almost like a Bentley Conti GT with 2 extra doors.

"It's also unlikely to give you much change from a million squid."

Gee, a million squid is a bit out of my price range.

Anyone think that the back end looks like a Vauxhall Insignia crossed with some panpipes?

The back looks like a cross between a Panamera and a Continental GT.

Not a fan of the 8 exhausts!

It does but. wow. Still.
I would bet it becomes a production car, less the 8 exhausts and "lighty-up" wheels.

Imagine how much profit you could make if you can get away with platform sharing on a Bugatti and still charge €1m a throw for it! It does look suspiciously like a Panamera.

What would Ettore think?
