Hullo there,

My existing Tesco Finest warranty expires (and, as a policy, winds up) soon so i'm shopping around for a replacement. TF is being administered by Car Care Plan but I was wondering whether anyone had any experience of them directly?

http://www.carcareplan.co.uk/products/warranty.htm

Alternatively, could anyone suggest a good replacement for the Tesco Finest warranty? Ideally I wouldn't really want to be paying more than £500 but I wouldn't be surprised if they've gone the same way as car insurance (e.g. up, up, up).

Cheerio,

Ross.

Their site seems to suggest that they only deal with businesses (which might suggest that you'd not be able to extend it at the end of your term). Have I got that right, do you know?

Gawd...researching warranties is boring as all hell mad

Car Care Plan are used by most of the larger manufacturers as their used Car Warranty for dealers. Vauxhall, Peugeot, Volvo etc etc.

They are also available for independent Dealers to use but they are only available at point of sale of the car, and cannot be taken out on a car you already own.

How does this waranty work, do you just roll up to the main dealer and then claim?

You normally let the dealer sort it out with the warranty company, especially if the warranty is through them.

I guess you've probably ruled out this solution if you're asking the question, but you can self-insure. Just put £500 into a savings account and use it if you need to. I've had very very few years when repairs would've cost more than insurance.

An indie dealer told me this week that aftermarket warranties aren't worth the money (good call) but he had heard good things about the honestjohn policy bought through the telegraph. Would be good to hear more of this and who administrates this??
I work for a manufacturer and our dealers use car care plan warranties and they are pretty much as good as the manufacturers warranties. The majority of them are indeed not worth the paper they are written on and have silly restrictions like only paying £40 per hour for labour which is ridiculous even for an indipendant.
