I think they aim to be an online only retailer and don't really want people coming down to have a look and ask questions, so they give stloads of information up front.

Just been to their website again and it is indeed awesome. It's just that when you get down there and it looks like a concentration camp full of cars, and it just doesn't match up to the website.

But I guess that's why they are so cheap. It really is a dot com car salesroom.

Just got off the phone from my Dad and he has been telling me about a car he has seen on their website, a Volvo V70.
The Volvo dealer I work for have bought many cars from them and they make it so easy. Some of the cars we sell new to a fleet company end up on there at the end of their contract, hence why we started going there in the first place.

Email me the Reg Number of the car concerned and I'll let you know if I have any history for that car if we supplied it new.

Amir J I can assure you I dont work for them - if i did I wouldnt be telling people about the mistake they made with my PX!
Yes I only have 3 posts but thought I would share my experiences - Is'nt that the reason these forums exist?

Haven't used myself but the website is fantastic, wish all used cars sites had so much detail. They seem to attract a lot of praise in the press and on forums.

Not sure about the prices though, I've noticed recently they have started listing cars at a high price then gradually dropping them every few days, sending out an email alerting you of this if your 'watching' the car. Heres an example, Audi A3 1.6 SE 5dr -- 2009 '58':

8 Mar - £13,946
12 Mar - £13,735
14 Mar - £13,523
17 Mar - £13,100

then I got "Unfortunately, the car you are watching has been reserved by another customer. "
... but the next day "We are pleased to inform you that the car you are watching is now available for you to reserve."...then another price drop:

1st April - £12,850

Thats a £1100 drop in under a month! I stopped 'watching' the car after that point so I have no idea if the price went down even further.

Also have been keeping an eye on this one http://www.autoquake.com/vehicle/inspid=21581? it went online on 22nd April at £10,291, dropped to £9917 on 30th April and is currently showing as £9622

Its odd as I've heard they don't let you haggle, so not really sure what was going on confused

I bought a Toyota Corolla Verso from them 2 weeks ago. As others have mentioned previously, the website is very easy to use and shows lots of pictures showing the condition of the car.

The buying process was very easy. Having decided I wanted the car, I paid a deposit online and made an appointment to see the car on a Saturday morning at the Leeds site. The site is far removed from a main dealer type place in that it's an old factory with portacabins for offices, however as long as you bear this in mind you'll be fine. Staff were friendly and helpful, car was as described and shown in the photos, and after a good look at it and short testdrive I bought it. Paid by debit card and used their Aviva 7 day free insurance setup making it all very painless. You do have to tax the car though. The nearest post office is a mile or so away, and you can get a taxi return for £5 if necessary.

Have had a couple of issues with the car though. The aircon needed a re-gas and the tracking was a long way out. Spoke to Autoquake about them, which was a bit of a pain, but got authorisation to have them fixed. Ended up having both issues resolved by Toyota while the car was being serviced. Am waiting for a cheque from Autoquake to reimburse me for the costs.

Overall, I was very happy with the experience. Far easier and less irritating than dealing with other dealers. Effectively what you see is what you get, take it or leave it. A slick and professional operation. Aftersales assistance in getting the couple of issues I had resolved has been ok so far, just waiting for the cheque to arrive...

Different market, but surely http://www.eclecticcars.co.uk is also in the running?

I like how painfully honest Autoquake are about the condition of their stock.
I love their website.
Eclectic Cars have a stunning website!!

The website looks good with so many pictures, but from the dashboard shots of 4 cars I have looked at, it looks like they drain each one completely of fuel!

is it not just that most (modern) cars don't show a fuel tank reading until the ignition is on...

No most of them are showing a message on the MFD/ DIS saying "please refuel!" or "reserve tank" etc

I bought my last car from them, the pictures/desciption were all very accurate. Delivered 3 days later. 2 yrs old, ex Co car with FSH. Never looked back and would buy again.

No haggling and quick turnover is what they want. Prices will drop if stock is not shifting.

But is it not a bit odd they would happily drop the price of a vehicle by £1100 over a period of 3 weeks and 3 days as per my example, but refuse to haggle if you express an interest in buying?

I'm not saying they are a bad company, just seems a bit of a weird business model.

I bought my 5 series from them.
You reserve the car you want online with £100.00 deposit - this holds it for 3 days. I used the time to see the car in person. Tip - take your licence and counterfoil or they won't let you test drive, but will demonstrate the car for you.
I estimate I saved about 3K off the going rate for my car - it has been excellent after 18 months of ownership. I did'nt have a trade in, as I always sell privately (you get more money than when you trade in).

Service excellent. Car magnificent. They also had a tempting looking Audi A4 3.2 50,000 miler FSH on a 55 plate for £9.5K at the time, they have bargains galore.

Best car purchase ever IMHO.

I know what you mean but haggling takes time, people and mgrs discrestion. I would expect that they have very strict purchasing criteria/margins.

If not sold in 3 weeks the car is automatically reduced by a set % each week until it shifts.

Autoquake went into administration yesterday afternoon.
Looks like the low prices eventually caught up with them.
I noticed the cars getting lower in prep standard/condition over the last few months.
I was watching a really nice Skoda Ovtavie VRS - the price went up by £2000 yesterday morning,
going into administration may explain this!

I've noticed this too, they seem to have increased prices across the board, everything is very expensive now.
