It was there all day on Monday as well... I did a trackday there and was lucky enough to be on track with it.
I have some AIM smartycam footage as well that I will download and post.
but I also grabbed this crap pic from in car
That would be the same car they let do a lap of the Test Geat test track then whereas the Ultima couldn't because it couldn't get over speed bumps?I have some AIM smartycam footage as well that I will download and post.

Ferrari have made a rod for their own backs because as specialist track cars go its pretty slow compared to what else is out there, they would have been better putting a GTO round and get a production car time which would probably have been nigh on the same, still not a Radical V8 though :-D
Just a couple of surprises here...
1. Ferrari haters have way too much time on their hands ...
2. This is a 599XX aside from being newer, wouldn't an FXX Evo have been a much faster car to go and Lap the Ring in if you wanted a halo ring time?
And at least one FXX has been made road legal
You guys do have some points though...
If the time was posted with slicks then it is pretty much irrelevant, if track day tires were used then not so much.
Should the 599XX really be called production derived? Well is the chassis of the 599XX the same as the r/g 599gtb but with bracing, or is completely custom? If custom then it really can't be said to be production derived its just a siloette race car with no type restrictions, very cool in its own right but that doesn't make it an omolagato special which the marketing and PR people XX program are there to convince people is happening.

Heh heh...cool. I was at the ring on Monday had a mooch about the car and saw it blasting round. Needless to say it sounded tasty. Didn't think they were attacking the circuit that hard though. That is uber fast.
I'll just add I did a fast passenger lap in a GT-R and was left in awe...some serious machinery those GT-R's.

What about the Dauer 962LM road car, or Schuppan 962CR road car? Anyone got one in their garage and want a shot at the record?
Hang on, I'll just check.... Right let's see, old tins of paint, mountain bike, hosepipe, a shovel..........
Nope, no Dauer 962LM or Schuppan 962CR in here I'm afraid.

Will somebody tell ferrari to shut the **** up and come back when they canAfraid there's another 10 seconds to find...
A) get it road registered and
B) get a lap time at least 11 seconds quicker.

Looks like the 599 chassis with full-cage and plumbing (I can't see them going for a bespoke chassis anyway). Plus it'll have completely bespoke suspension, brakes, wheels&tyres, engine breathing and management. Just like a GT3 racer, in other words, but without the restriction of regulations! So probably half-way to a GT1 car then...Oh...and those photos above would suggest slick tyres...although with slicks I'd have expected even more speed, so either they changed the tyres for track-day ones or that machine is even less special than Ferrari would have you believe...

I dont think that FXX has been made road legal ... as I recall it he stuck on the plates from his Enzo, and took the FXX for a spin. Still a bit mental though 1. Ferrari haters have way too much time on their hands ...

They can say this is 'production-derived' all they like, and Radical can call their cars 'production' if they like - it's a free world.
In reality the XX is a race car, based on a road car.
Just like the Porsche GT3 Cup and GT3 R and GT3 RSR are race cars based on road cars.
Going that fast in a race car would be expected ...
In the VLN the GT3 R / RSR whatever can do a long lap in the region of 8:15 - which equates to about 1:20 more than the Nordschleife alone - so that's, give or take - a full Nordschleife lap in about 6:55.
Gotta love those PR departments.
And interesting that Ferrari have decided to include the Nordschleife, finally, as a benchmark.

yeah I thought that as well, makes a change from their fiorano track times (which conveniently no other manufacturer can try & better)In reality the FXX is a race car, based on a road car.

It looked and sounded great on track on our Destination-Nürburgring track day on Monday.
I was driving a friends 996 RS as it caught me at Hohe Acht - thought I'd be able to tag onto it through Wipperman at least, but no, it pretty much mooched away from me! (I'm no Sabine but I don't hang about either)
Lovely thing, very privileged to have it there.

I think you'll find that was put there as a fertility symbol by pagan worshippers around 2500BC - just after the resurfacing work through Brunchen and up into Eisekurve.Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
