I've mentioned a number of times on here that I have driven the XKR (that being the basis of my opinions).

'Laggy' was referring to the DB9's 'touchtronic' transmission.

Either way I've been giving serious thought to getting an XKR ever since I drove one last year. This 75 edition might just be what I've been waiting for.

I especially like the rumour that 523bhp is a very conservative estimate and that Jag have done a 'Nissan GTR' and given it nearer 540bhp!

Autocar magazine feature compares the 75 to an AM V8V.

You may be surprised to hear what they feel the margin of victory is.

I think though to be fair, the V8V although similar in price is an unfair comparison, this car is firmly in DBS territory now. But half the price.

Jaguar know how to make great cars with limited funds, come on TATA fund the QUICK development of a smaller platform for a roadster and coupe in the £40k market. You have the talent to create something special.

What a cracker!!

But what is the diff between this and the recently-announced Speed Pack and Black Pack, performance/power-wise?

I am confused...!

The Speed Pack and Black pack have some aerodynamic aids and are de limited so will run to 174. The 75 also has an increase in power to 523 HP over the "standard" car. Top speed is limited to 174 but 0-62 is .2 seconds quicker, 0-100 will probably be .5- 1 second quicker. When I drove a standard XKR at Elvington last week the engineers quoted 0-100 in around 10 seconds - 2 seconds slower than a Lambo 560-4!

It says it in the article in terms of spec and speed.

The latest XKR packs are predominantly cosmetic, the xk 75 goes much further.

mercedes always seem to advertise a car which is not available only 100 to the uk and all sold, but if you want to order one it seems that you can with no guaratees of price, ive tried several dealers and not one has come up with a fixed price, so 160k its a joke ,the xkr is a better looking car and better value for your money. bas marple stockport.

Gorgeous! I love the new line of jags. Surprised it doesn't have cross drilled brake discs.

Not that easy, Aston use a transaxle layout, engine front, gearbox rear, torque tube in between, very different from the traditional XK layout with the box bolted to the back of the engine. Need a lot more than spanners!

They build a 1 off with a tremec T56 6sp manual and LSD for the XKR-R, no plans to return to it, if anything these days would be a DCT or ASM, no lever or clutch pedal eaither way
