There is a world of difference between a Turbo R and a VW Bentley.

I love it - would be my perfect choice as a GT cruiser.
I'm not sure about perfect, but the convertible is vastly better looking than the coupe.
Makes your eyes bleed with the roof up though hurl
TBH I think it works pretty well, although it's colour dependent.

These cars are actually a lot of fun to drive, and not just because they are fast.

OK, maybe I've lived in Essex for too long, but I've grown to like these. They're mostly driven by utter tossers who think they own the road or fiftysomething orange women, but there's something classy about the way they stomp along. And I'd love a Supersports convertible.

But I'd love a DBS Volante even more.

I'm not a fan of that interior, doesn't look as upmarket as it should.
I beg to differ. Unless they've trashed the interior materials by comparison to the GT Speed, trust me when I tell you that this is one of the highest quality and most tactile cabins of any modern vehicle at any price. Speaking of the GT Speed it is a sensual pleasure to sit inside and caress lol (except the 'orrible satnav).

I'll take an XKR thanks. Bentley seems over-complex to me, and a derestricted XKR would probably manage 180-190mph I reckon.

Yawn, Bentleys are very boring.
On the same lines as you, I've never every taken to the car. Admittedly this remains in the land of theory as I've never been in one / driven one.

The problem for me is, every time I see one, I think "what else could I get for that money?"
I agree about the Conti GT, you couldn't say the same about the Brooklands though cloud9

It's not quicker in figures than a Ferrari 612 and I'd put money on an Aston Rapide beating it around the Ring.

It looks like a truck (classic Bentley in that respect - the insult goes back to the 1920s), but worse than that, it weighs as much as a truck. What is the point of shaving a few kilos off the weight with carbon seats in a car that weighs 2.4 tonnes? Why can such a massive, heavy monster not have a bit of space in the back? Those rear seats look barely more accommodating than those in a DB9.
Point missed slightly. It's still an everyday car and as such lacks any true competitors. Even the Rapide isn't something I would fancy driving on a cold winter morning.

Plenty of folk have given Bentley a kickin' for building heavy, showy, luxury GTs for hairdressing salon millionaires which get left for dead by Astons and the like but I like this buffed up Bentley that's been to the gym and been bawled at by some nutcase instructor.

Spotted it down at Lord March's backgarden this weekend and it moved ok for a big, fat lad.

OK - I had a nice case of sunstroke and Derek Bell was working the levers, but it sounded decent and hustled itself up the back lawn without looking silly.

The coupe looked ok as well and was wearing a nice paint job. Bentley is a luxury, 'lifestyle' brand but I like the fact that they're still prepared to offer us ordinary folk something that can be a bit raw and naughty as well.

Smaller seats, but same (i.e. no) legroom. I have for years driven powerful rwd cars in winter in the UK and Germany and Switzerland. Winter tyres are a wonderful thing. I would put them on a 4wd car too, having seen plenty of spanners sliding around in 4wds, including Bentleys.

Surely this has it trumped just about in every way? It's miles better looking and genuinely seats four. Just not bling enough or powerful enough for some I expect.

What is the point of Mr Kyle (Good) Fortune driving this car?

Oh yes, a luxurious business class, all expenses paid trip to America.

No wonder he is dribbling over it.

looks horrible with the roof up. Like 'Pimp my ride' has turned the GT into a GC.

Hmmm, I'd have to disagree with that. But each to his own, of course.

I'd always admired them from afar (if one ignores the current demographic of most of bentley's customers). As a luxurious GT, I'd always imagined they'd be good fun (albeit, shockingly expensive to buy/run) to drive across the continent.

I was fortunate to have a blast in the hardtop version of the supersports at Bruntingthorpe a couple of months ago. The 30mins I had in the car were not boring. The acceleration is silly (for a car of its size an weight) and those big ceramic brakes provide epic braking. I was surprised how 'sporty' the handling felt when driven in a spirited way.
And eventhough it was 'stripped out' inside, it still felt luxurious and comfy.

Will I own one? No. I'm not in that bracket really. And there's the running costs...
But I'd love to get the use of one (beg/borrow/hire) for a few days and have a spin over to France at some stage in the future.
