The bit that struck me was "there'll be a new M3 in 2012". Hardly likely is it. They need to design a new 3 first and we're halfway through 2010. M3 will follow 18mths/2yrs later. Not that I care because I will still own one of the last V8s bmw ever made... and on that bombshell... multiple 's to the sound of that GTS!!!!!!!!!
The new M3 will most likely arrive in 2014, not 2012. 2012 will be when you can first get hold of a new M5 here.Kazlet said:
I think you meant Beemer.

You're wrong, don't make yourself look any more ill informed than you already have...
Never mind a GT3 RS.
You can get a new GT3 for £90k. I seriously doubt the M3 will be faster around a track, even if it is it won't be by much. And will you have to pay extra to upgrade the brakes (as per the CSL)?
With the left over £26.5k you can do a lot of trackdays!!!
Away from the track I quite happily drive my GT3 everyday, I would be too embarrassed to drive the BMW.
All just my opinion.

I originally responded defending the use of 'Bimmer' as being mutually interchangeable with 'Beemer'. After a quick Google search it appears that 'Bimmer' is the correct term.
The person who originally used the term DID indeed intend to use it as I pointed out.
Of course, I'm more than happy for you to educate me (and everyone else for that matter) as to why 'Bimmer' is soooo wrong but please actually put some evidence up so I can have an opportunity to read it and apologise if appropriate.
Cheers

It will no doubt be awesome but I think 150 is all they had the balls to make! I seem to remember that initially only 1000 E46 CSL's were going to be made and then they upped it by a few hundred...and then no one wanted one for £60k. Maybe 20 will come to the UK with most probably in collections....not that relevant to your average PH'er unfortunately.
I think I'd rather buy a mint E30 Sport EVO and a mint E46 CSL and have quite a bit of cash left over.

Looks to much like a show-off-boy-racer-drift-car, IMO.
Get a Jaguar XFR instead.
V8 with more horse power, much nicer looks, 4 doors and a real 'go sideways' car.
I don't think you really get what this car is about. The XFR is a great car, but wouldn't see this for dust on a track. Get a Jaguar XFR instead.

Here's a clue: one is a well-sorted, luxurious sports saloon; the other is a stripped-out track car with a roll cage and no rear seats. They are not remotely competitors.

As for the rest, it will be very competitive with the GT3 and RS, just as the CSL was with the 996 GT3.
As for the final sentence of your post, having written that is more embarrassing than being seen in any car short of a Chevrolet.

They managed to sell all the GT3's, but not all the CSL's. And yet the CSL was as good a track car, if not better. The limited quantity, however, will be helpful to retain residuals.
