No airbags, but plenty of bent metal. Lights were out, and the Clio turned right across me, had nowhere to go.
Not sure if the Mustang will be repaired. Bonnet, both front wings, headlights, whole front end. Rad pushed back two inches, airbox moved, and one of the chassis rails bent.
That’s a shame. We have a GT and it stops on a 6p with those big 6 pot Brembos Not sure if the Mustang will be repaired. Bonnet, both front wings, headlights, whole front end. Rad pushed back two inches, airbox moved, and one of the chassis rails bent.

He was fine without the airbags, so what would have been the purpose of having them go off?
Well there wouldn’t have been any point, but that’s with the benefit of hindsight. I’m just surprised a car can take that much obvious frontal damage without the driver’s head making its way toward the steering wheel. Like I said, I know nothing about this stuff. It obviously looks a lot worse than the collision was. Such is the point of crumple zones I suppose.Good point made in your last comment

I’m always amazed at the number of people who think that airbags should have gone off regardless of impact position, how hard the impact was..
Why would they in the accident above? It might look quite bad but really, it looks much worse than it is, primarily because the car has done exactly what it was designed to do and crumple, in all the right place, on all the right panels to absorb the impact.. the seat belts would have been enough I would suspect.
I’m pretty sure that a 68 plate mustang with that level of damage will be repaired.. had both front airbags gone off and the car had needed the two airbags, the airbag control module, the relevant harness(s) a dash panel and a windscreen where the passenger airbag will in all likelihood have broken it when it deployed, then it would have been a lot closer to being written off than it is currently.

Low speed, my fault behind the only car in the county that stops at empty well sighted roundabouts. No airbags deployed, but an incredible £9k repair!

One of my pet hates.... happens around me a lot. Usually elderly drivers who have no idea how to use a roundabout and will slam on the anchors approaching empty roundabouts. Will also sit there if there is traffic with no idea when to go.NDA said:

Well whoever's decided to put up fences etc to block vision as you come onto roundabouts, clearly thinks making people come to a virtual stop is better.

Not wanting to be Mr Sensible, but there could be a good reason for that one.... that looks a fast roundabout and you'd actually want people to slow down rather than quickly glance right and plough on at 50mph. Maybe?https://www.google.com/maps/@52.6388055,-2.0882117...
ETA - which is perhaps your point and I am liable to a whoosh!
But on smaller, slower roundabouts there's no need to come to a grinding halt when you're clear to go.
