Joking aside, I once woke to find a drunkard tree caressing the rear end of my girlfriend's car.
If we're doing trees on cars then this is what happened to my dad's BMW 528i back in 2000 - the car was 3 months old and we were in Australia at the time - he'd parked it at his bosses house so it didn't get damaged in the airport car park!

Incredibly it wasn't written off - it was completely reshelled by our local dealership. By the time he sold it it had over 250k on the clock.

Not written off! Wow! That puts my whole dogged crash into perspective.

Stumbled across this on FB

"I’ve had the opportunity to take delivery of a brand new car a couple of times and my excitement was through the roof on both occasions. I can only imagine buying a Lamborghini must be on another level, but this Huracan owner will likely want to forget the day the dealer handed over the keys to this Performante Spyder, 20 minutes later all hell broke loose, it had mechanical failure in the third lane and stopped, a van rear ended it on the M1"

Mechanical failure! Gosh, that's very unfortunate. What a wreck. Sad to see such a nice car perish.

Happened me about ten years ago. Ireland, huge dual wlheeled tractor coming towards me. Pulled over onto the verge ( as I thought) to let hm by.

It was a ditch. I had forgotten about them, not having driven there for years.......idiot that I was.

There are many tractor drivers who, for some unknown reason, are very reluctant to go on the grass.
They prefer the cars going right off the road, despite them having 2+ foot ground clearance, 4 WD, 16 gears (who knows, that might not be correct!) and 2 foot wide by 8 ft diameter wheels and tyres.

Was the wing missing due to the accident or had it just rusted away all by itself?

Surgically removed by the electricity pole I think, lots of bits fell off the car.

I was very lucky, a few feet further back and the pole would have come in through my door.

Was there really a dog involved, or were you cracking on a bit and lost it that way?

I may have been hallucinating. In fact I had a perfect line until a volvo coming the other way cut the corner. I tightened my line to avoid it and suffered terminal oversteer at about 70.

For some reason, probably crap tyres, this car had a very nasty oversteer habit. I nearly T-boned it when a mate was driving it and span it in front of me ( was in his car).

When I told the nice policeman about the dog, his words were "That dog gets around doesn't it"

It was only a few years after that a friend who was a traffic cop told me that it was tradition to include the 'duty black dog' in any accidents involving police cars. laughlaugh

After 2 years of driving, I learned many important lessons very quickly, including what lift-off oversteer is and not to drive like a .

I was overtaking another car, spending way too much time looking in my mirror to make sure I was clear before moving back over, look back at the road.... crap, I'm on the corner already.

In 4th and the back stepped out, I lifted my foot off the accelerator, resisted the temptation to brake but just couldn't accelerate out of it.

My front wheels touched the grass and I thought, it's fine, I'll slide to a stop in the field and find a way out.

The next thing I know is I'm barrel-rolling through the field. Turns out I hit a concrete gas marker post with my rear quarter panel.

I was very lucky that day, lucky I had no passengers, lucky I escaped with only minor scratches, lucky insurance paid out, lucky a very friendly police officer arrived on scene and *cough* helped me remember the details of the accident for the report and even gave me a lift home.

Why do I never see such sad individuals in real life. Only on twitter.
Because social media is where everyone gets to hide behind a pseudonym while showing what petty little people they really are?
So most people are just disguising themselves as not sad b*stards in real life?

I know why you call yourself Archie.

I must've avoided a relative of your black dog once or twice.

I thought the Keanu reference was due to the e39 528i pic having T15 NEO on the plate?

His boss would have actually been pretty chuffed if it had landed on it to be honest - he'd already replaced it and hadn't got round to selling it so would have taken the insurance payout instead.

My dad ran it for a couple months whilst the BMW was being repaired, then a few weeks after giving it back they hit a deer in it on the motorway and wrote it off that way instead.
