Has anyone called the dealer to say "um, you know it was written off. Right?" smile
Is it recorded as a write off, though?
As it's advertised as 1 owner, presumably the dealer bought it off the insurance company? So would know its history and quite possibly arranged the repair?
Not if it got sold from insurance company to a garage that does the repairs. Garages dont add to the number of owners.

I used to go to breakdowns at Econ every now and again.
Bet that went over with a bang.

Sure, my point was really that it hasn't been in private hands since the write off so wouldn't the current seller know its history? i.e. he bought it from Dave's Crash Repairs? He doesn't have to disclose it if it's not recorded. In a way he is by making sure one side is different to the other!

Ah but it comes back to if it wasnt actually a catagory write off and just got fixed then thrown back into the auctions you wouldnt really know. We know because of the owner is here tongue out

Of course, auction. Didn't think of that!

(would still run a mile from any dealer selling a car in that condition)

I stuck the reg into Autotrader ("Sell a car") to get a check, and it's definitely a Cat N / Cat S. - Was sent off to DVLA etc, so it's certainly recorded.

To be fair it shows on Autotrader on his site as a Cat N, which is I guess how most people would search, rather than via a dealer site.

He seems to specialise in Cat S / N.

You should check out the "Dodgy Cars" Facebook page.

Some proper shockers on there that dealers are trying to pass off as straight cars.

This was some years ago..

I was just driving down the road and other driver decided I just wasn't there and full swung into the carpark (into the exit markings). I turned in a bit when I saw them coming at me to give them a bit more time to stop and they just kept on coming. smash

The car just got repaired and is still on the road, it was a bit of a mess so I traded it in shortly after getting it back over a month later.

Well known insurance backed repair company gave it back to me with the DSG paddles completely disconnected, took it back and the guy who released the car asked if they were for changing the radio, along with some other electrical issues.

Also the knob to adjust the mirrors on the drivers door was gone.. and that didn't fall off in the crash. laugh

Off topic but I see a lot of VAG cars with rear wipers stuck in the vertical position. Is it a scene thing or a common fault with VAG rear wiper motors?

I presume in this instance when all the airbags exploded and the DSG gearbox locked up it cuts the electric and they stuck in situ.

It definitely wasn't always up in the air like a cats tail!
