I agree with your comments on the mid range acceleration. (However in my car, 75-130 would be considered top end!)

Just watching the speed increase on the video is mental, i've watched the numbers go up digitally in my car and wow i wish mine counted that quick!!! Plus with these flappy paddle boxes theres not let off.

Very envious of what you did here, just an extended free trackday!!!!

Looks good, although not sure it looks £250,000 good. Why would you want one of these over a new Ferrari 458??
I think you're missing the point. This car will be bought by the sort of person who already has a garage full of hyper-cars. It will not be bought by the sort of person who stretches their finances so they can buy their dream £250K car.

I'd take on over the 458 anyday. In a year or so's time it seems that any new money tom, dick or indeed harry will have a 458 sat in their garage.

The LFA shows a bit of lateral thinking, the ability to not be a sheep and while I don't know how it stacks up against a 458, I'd bet it's an equal.

The one trick the LFA might be able to pull off over the 458 is it being worth a substantial amount of its price tag in 5, 10 even 15 years given its exclusivity. The 458 will depreciate the same way the 430, 360, 355 etc etc did just as soon as the market fills with used models or a newer model comes out.

LFA for the win!

£250k. Two hundred and fifty grand. How many do they expect to sell ?
It's always been quoted at this price, and has been for ages now. Nothing new, but I agree its on the dear side hehe
500 planned production run - 500 already sold... smile
Not only that all 500 are sold, they had to select the customers which will get one. There are a lot of people out there who'ld pay more than the asking price to get one.

Could possibly be worth twice in some years...

Good - why does every discussion on this car have to be concerned about its price?

There must be a strong demand for this car based on its merits and perhaps that is the reason why all 500 have been sold.

Nice write up and a great lap - LFA sounds lovely.

We need to applaud Toyota for this car, and ignore the price.

The performance does not matter. The looks don't matter. the indicator stalks don't matter. the price does not matter in any way.

What matters is the production techniques and materials that Toyota have pioneered, basically they've invented an automated composite materials process. In an ideal world, this will result in stronger, stiffer, safer and better cars for all of us.
Interesting, although I'd settle for it meaning lighter cars (today's stuff is already stiff/safe enough, which is why they're all too heavy).

I think that price issue has been done to DEATH now...and yes I am partly responsible so I won't prattle on about it again...the main issue I have with this car every review mentions. "light weight" and "weight saving technology"...so why isn't it light then?
Lexus LFA - 1480kg, Ferrari 458 - 1485kg, Porsche 911 Turbo S - 1585kg, Aston Martin DBS - 1695kg.

Reckon it acquits itself quite well in that company. For reference, a Mondeo weighs about 1560kg.

Just don't mention the Gallardo Superleggera or the GT3 RS, 'cos they weigh 1340kg and 1370kg respectively...whistle...
I was going to use both those as a bench mark! And the fact a fully loaded 458 is the same weight kind of validates my point..it's light enough as supercar's go but its not a lightweight car..if that makes any sense.
At 1200kg like the Gumpert Apollo and Koeninsegg CCX it could of been savagely quick....it would of been circa 460 bhp per tonne rather than the current 370.

Nice driving BTW.

ah but what you forget is that the LFA has more kit than all of them stuff like seat belt airbags! and a properley built interior!

Ha ha WTF does that mean? What are you part of the landed gentry? Absolutely ridiculous statement...you think wealthy and taste should be birthed rights?

OK I am sure the price thing has been done to death in another post somewhere but the official website gives a price of

37,500,000 JPY without any customization, local taxes or fees

That works out at todays exchange rate at around £279,000 since the car is not made in the EU I beleive there is still an import duty (10%) and then there is the UK VAT (17.5%).

So total retail price would be around
£279k with VAT and
£307K if the 10% EU import duty is still applicable these days.

This doesn't include first registration cost nor the road tax nor the 1st tank of fuel nor the floor mats wink

If this LFA is not fast / extreme enough in 2012 they will be making a special run of 50 cars called the LFA Nurburgring Package, a race track oriented and optimized model ... what is the regular car targetted at then! Also no indication on the price of this special edition.

It's not too expensive.

They have all been sold for ages, so if anything it is too cheap!

The £250k is probably a reasonable price for the depth of engineering and ability but would it have cost a lot more to make it look a bit less, well, fuggly?
Doesn't photograph well, does it? If it's any consolation it does look a bit better in 'real life'. But it ain't the prettiest thing.
Oh I don't know, I quite like it.

It looks like a bit of a collaboration of Nissan's GT-R and the Audi R8 to me!

Exclusivity and a properly race-spec engine?!? And probably a lot more integrity/reliability than your average Italian exotica...

According to Lexus, the car cannot be purchased, only leased, after which time it can be bought from Lexus or returned just as any other leased car. The stated purpose of this arrangement is to prevent speculators from turning the cars over during the 1st two years.

It makes me wonder what 250k worth of nissan GTR would do. Porsche are catered for in this area by the nuts german aftermarket tuners such as Ruf. What would a Mine's or Nismo spec car with a final product price of 250k be like? Veyron beating?

It looks an epic car, and it reminds me of my most loved car. The XJ220. Its not that its too expensive, but just launched at the wrong time. No doubt a benchmark and a collectors item..... i would like to see one at Le Mans on a private entry....

nice laps riggers, how did you feel when you got out? Tired, elated, numb....

Got to be worth celebrating the fact that a normally pretty straight-laced manufacturer like Lexus can come up with something as outrageous as the LFA - and as for the noise..........utterly fantastic.

Worth the purchase price for that alone for some buyers I would think.
