RE: Driven: Lexus LFA
Discussion
I know lap times of the Ring allways cause controversy but so far the LFA is recorded as 7 minutes 20 seconds but the ferrari 458 is 7 minutes 28.7 seconds infact its faster than a Veyron and a CCX, i think this is a wonderful engineering accomplishment. lets be honest no its not twice as good as a ferrari 458 but is a Bugatti Veyron 8 times better than a 458, i think cost needs to be forgotten if anything as stated before this will become a sound investment to a collector.
Well done to Toyota and Lexus my favorite supercar of the moment and i can't wait to see what the upcoming special edition accomplishes this car is a very serious peice of kit

I think that price issue has been done to DEATH now...and yes I am partly responsible so I won't prattle on about it again...the main issue I have with this car every review mentions. "light weight" and "weight saving technology"...so why isn't it light then?
Lexus LFA - 1480kg, Ferrari 458 - 1485kg, Porsche 911 Turbo S - 1585kg, Aston Martin DBS - 1695kg.Reckon it acquits itself quite well in that company. For reference, a Mondeo weighs about 1560kg.
Just don't mention the Gallardo Superleggera or the GT3 RS, 'cos they weigh 1340kg and 1370kg respectively......
Can we have a new rule of ph too?
First mention of sheep to describe the actions of the mass populous gets a bullet a limb and any subsequent mention means one in the face.
Partly why the LFA is so amazing, such awesome engineering:

Cost wise, who cares, they sold them all already!!

Well said. This car is worth every penny Lexus is asking for it, although I thought that they were on sale for £335k? Maybe its the recent exchange rate shift which has affected the asking price. In any case, I'd personally go for the 599GTO.

According to Lexus, the car cannot be purchased, only leased, after which time it can be bought from Lexus or returned just as any other leased car. The stated purpose of this arrangement is to prevent speculators from turning the cars over during the 1st two years.
Only in the US. Other countries you buy it outright.Great driving Riggers. Love Goodwood, luckily I live 10 mins for there. Driven the circuit many many times. Brown under pants time as I lost my circuit driving virginity may years ago at Goodwood in my 'breathed-on' Sierra Cosworth whale tail and I nearly stuffed it first lap. I didn't, and the car and I survive!
Lavant Straight at 150mph is quite something!!

Looks good, although not sure it looks £250,000 good. Why would you want one of these over a new Ferrari 458??
are you that ignorant to believe that all car enthusiasts aspire to owning a Ferrari?HereBeMonsters said:

are you that ignorant to believe that all car enthusiasts aspire to owning a Ferrari? It does wind me up though when a new 'exotic' car company appears out of obscurity like Pagani, Spyker, Gumpert and Koeniseggseggsegg etc and nobody seems to bat an eyelid about how expensive they are. They just go "ooh that's exotic, that obviously justifies the price."
But when a company like Toyota/Lexus or Nissan decide to make an expensive car there are those who get their knickers in a twist.
Anyway, I digress... good write up and I'd have mine in the matt black too

are you that ignorant to believe that all car enthusiasts aspire to owning a Ferrari? There are exceptions of course - anyone who buys a 360CS/430Scud/GT3/GT3RS is clearly closely-related to a chiropractor, and anyone who's on the list for the 599GTO is clearly closely-related to someone in the Ferrari factory!
