...then actually you have no idea what drifting a car really means in the context that we were talking about. Are you saying you can slide the front and rear by equal amounts and keep them at the optimum slip angle from turn-in to exit, having threshold braked into the corner, and do all that within the context of a lap for ultimate lap time? Lots of people can, but I don't know anyone good at it who regards it as a "piece of piss", and I certainly don't know of any bikers (from the guy next door up to Rossi) who've jumped into a proper racing car and suddenly said "this is easy" and set a new lap record straight away, or even gone anywhere near quick. Or the other way round of course - car drivers onto a bike. You are inhabiting cloud cuckoo land to be quite honest.

Will you stop adding things after I have replied.

Look, I can slide a car as good as you. You can't slide a bike as good as me.

My willy is bigger than yours ETC.

There's willys on this thread? Damn Photobucket must be playing up again, unless they're all really small, in which case I might win. Mine's at least 5 inches at full pelt. wink

That's all just childish insults (in fact are you about 12? rofl). You know as well as I do that I've won countless races and set lap records etc. Let's get back to the facts and the subject in hand, which you continue to ignore, thus me thinking you're a troll. Especially this business about drifting a bike on opposite lock at 140mph in the wet - that sounds rather far fetched to me...
Yes I was being childish and trolling. I said I was.

I didn't say I could drift a bike in the wet at 140, I said I could wheelie a bike at 140.

Plenty of people on here have seen me do it.

The last 2 paragraphs weren't trolling BTW.
err, yes you did:

Quite right VB, I can back a bike in, slide it in the wet and balance it on the back wheel at nearly 140mph.
Unless you meant to put a comma and an "also" in there...
That's poor pedantry and incorrect. The use of "also" would be superfluous, as the "and" in the sentence would take precedence and mean "also" anyway.

The word "and" should never be preceded by a comma either.

Given that there are three items listed in the claims, then each should be treated as an individual and standalone claim. If there were only two, then there is room for misinterpetation, but not with three.
Eh? What is it with the bikers on here? rolleyes

"I can walk, run and swim at 5mph" (meaning you can do all three at 5mph) is a completely different sentence to "I can walk and run, and also swim at 10mph".

Comma before an 'and'? I think that went out with the dark ages biggrin No problem with that at all.

You only see things from a car drivers perspective.

You're guessing as much as I am about the outcome of the original post.

Nope, there's no such thing here as a car driver's perspective or a bike rider's perspective, there is just a string of simple facts which you need to read, understand and put together. It's not a point you can argue, sorry. Don't worry, waking up to the truth does not mean cars are somehow "better", or that my Dad's better than your Dad or whatever else is worrying you, it's just simple facts that you need to accept. Which is more fun is down to personal preference. As for the facts, we have:

1) Lap times of cars with power to weight ratios far less than bikes can equal their lap times on all other circuits, so it makes sense that if the power to weight ratio is equal, the car will be quicker. In this instance that we're discussing, the single seater would actually have a greater power to weight ratio than the bike.

2) Group C car at the ring is 6m11 - fastest bike time I've seen is a 7m40 (estimated from a BTG).

3) And this is just to test the water on the TT course, as most bikers reckon it has magical properties that renders an F1 car impotent immediately. I timed a hillclimb segment with a very slow 'F1' car and a tentative amateur driver going quicker than the TT lap record over a 45-50 second section. I have timed similar F1 cars doing very slow lap times around Spa, nowhere near that of a sports racer or F1 car, or even F3. Ergo, the are plenty of cars quicker than that car that went quicker than the lap record.

This is what you need to understand. Try again wink

Right, so we're all agreed then, none of us knows for sure?

HIGH FIVES GUYS, GOOD DEBATE!

No?

Right, I have a solution that will please the bikers and carists...

Seb Loeb in a Veyron would be quicker than my gran on a Peugeot moped thing.

Valentino Rossi on a Moto GP thing would be quicker than my gran in a diesel Peugeot 207.

Now, my gran has decades of experience on the roads, Peugeot is at the top of the diesel motorsport tree, so both examples above are fair. Yes? Can't we have group hug and fk off to bed now?

I've quoted fking lap times you brainless moron.

Oh dear, I really can't deal with people as dense as you - I'm off to bed rofl
You quoted a lap time of what?

You see there you go again. What you quoted was a tiny section of the TT where a F1 car had done a sprint. You then looked on U tube and using your technical skills as a video producer concluded that a F1 car would be quicker over 30 odd miles than the 1 or 2 miles in the clip.

People like me can see through the bluster that billy bullstters like you spout out RobM77.

I am quoting you for posterity BTW.

Have a nice night.

I've done a nice summary for you that hopefully even you can understand - see above.

I don't mind you quoting me at all - you really are a grade A idiot with very little common sense or logic to speak of at all, and an astonishing turn of arrogance as well. I'm sure nobody will mind me insulting you given the provocation I've had! biggrin

I have plenty of common sense and logic that has stood me well throughout my life young man. ( I meant that in a patronising way)

I will reiterate again that ignorance is a terrible affliction.

Keep hurling insults though.

You've constructed two sentences completely differently there. However, your first sentence reads that you can do all three independently at 5mph, whereas the second gives me differing information, in that you can now swim at 10mph, but there is no speed attributed to walking or running.

Whether you believe that the "comma before an "and"" went out in the Dark Ages is irrelevant. If you want to be pedantic, you need to be consistent in your pedantry.

For the record, I'm a far more accomplished driver than I am a biker, having raced (probably as badly as you) for a number of years in my late teens / early 20s and have owned a variety of fast cars too.

yes None of us really know, no, because it's never happened. However, we have such a mountain of evidence (pun not intended!) from other circuits (and a section of the TT course) where bikes and cars have run together to assume what would happen with a pretty good degree of certainty. It's not even close; a decent car like an LMP1 or F1 would be minutes ahead, not seconds. To be quite honest, it's only people like BN who refuse to accept it, and even then they've not got any rational grounds or counter evidence to bring forward, they just jump about and scream a lot - it's just blind denial really and a bunch of weird and childish trollery.

From other circuits.

You're showing your ignorance again RobM77. (ignorance isn't always an insult RobM77, in this instance you're ignorant because you don't know any better)

Nice of you to admit that you don't know either.

Sorry, but I take offence at that, but before I explain why I'll say that our own driving/riding ability has nothing to do with this at all. I don't care if I'm explaining these things to a 10 year old or Michael Schumacher - it doesn't make any difference.

I've had a pretty serious battering from BN's idiotic comments, and to be honest I think I've stayed pretty level headed (give or take the odd frustrating moment!), and just kept quoting facts at him. This isn't an argument - arguments tend to be tit for tat - this is a stupid man without any common sense or facts to present at all and an ordinary guy with the facts in front of them just trying to present them in different ways so that he gets understood.

I wouldn't be at all, no.

I don't see BN and I as similar at all. I'm just quoting facts here, and BN is getting all aggressive and doesn't actually have any facts to quote at all - he just screams "no!" everytime myself (and others) try to tell him what the truth is.
