All the German Marques carry out negative advertising just a little less blatant i suppose check this out, apparently it upset a few people in the parent company VW as it was going to be used by Porsche to show their group membership and this was a quick google find :-)
Do you have a link for that? I don't remember that coming out as a marketing campaign as such. From memory it was created by the press to illustrate the possible merger/buy out.

When you're top of your respective markets, there is no need to run negative advertisting campaigns.

Trying to find it again i googled under images "Negative Advert" (Theres 610,000) and randonly clicked on pages just looking for something interesting, however from the page it wasn't an external advert but for internal use (Possibly on letterhead or something) but it upset VW as obviously Porsche were going to buy VW and then it all backfired and Porsche succumbed to VW's bid which upset the Porsche management.

Did you even read some of the earlier posts? There has been loads of negative advertising between Audi and BMW.

Yes I did, and no, I can't think of any in the same vein as the Nissan advertising mentioned here. As I can't think of any, I'd simply like to see some - so show me some, in a similar style. smile

The check mate billboard was by a BMW dealership in Santa Monica, not BMW themselves. However, I did ask for any examples you might have seen on google in a similar style.

I'm still waiting.

The irony is that the R8 (v8 at least) is barely any faster than the M3 round the ring. There was 1 second in it iirc.

Doubt it, think they were both for sportauto though. The old CSL was miles ahead of both interestingly.

laugh I really love Porsches and M3's but some of the owners only buy them as an image item, I was on my way to buy and M3 CS 18 monthes ago, and this was after it took me awhile to persuade myself people wouldn't just look at me and go "C*ck". So there i am cruising upto Lincoln and what do you know and M3 does a 3 lane undertake then shoots down my sliproad at the roundabout again nearly runs someone of the road by changing lanes without signalling but using the horn and a right foot, it depressed me so much i turned round and drove home, I really wanted that car but just could not be associatted with the M3 driver image :-(

So you choose cars based on what other members of the public may think of you?

No its what i find myself thinking, much the same as when i see a barried corsa, i have certain expectations of how they will pull away from traffic lights and am rarely disappointed as they try a rally start in in a 1.2 shopping trolley. A small percentage of M3 drivers have got the rest a terrible name due to their aggressive manner on the street and i don't want to be associatted with that image much like the reason i now avoid baseball caps and hoodies unless i am at the gym.
