Fantastic - can't wait to see the finished product.

Does anybody recognise the program that the screenshot was taken from? I'm curious to know what software such a company uses.
Autodesk Alias .... industry standard in design studios.

The software is Autodesk Alias Automotive 2010. I used this at university and its a great piece of software. Think it runs at around $4-5,000 per machine though! Pretty much industry standard software when it comes to car design. Website can be found here: http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/pc/index?id=1...
Hope that helps!
Alias Design starts at about that price....but Alias Automotive (which you need o build automotive class A surfaces) is more like 80,000....

What has Ferrari's reaction been to this out of interest?

They used to be known for being less than pleased with customers who created Bizzas smile

Great car though, and I fully understand why you would want to be able to drive it on the road once you've taken the numbers off. True PH stuff, you and the guys behind it should be very pleased with the fruit of your labours!
We shall see. The last time I spoke with them they did say:

"We hear you have a new project..."
Well, I for one certainly don't see it doing any harm. You're using one of their best recent designs on top of a already existing Ferrari which definately have the performance to go with it.

In no way should it devalue the brand, they already did that themselves with some st theme park in UAE. ranting
Thanks for taking the time to reply.

I wouldn't have thought it would devalue the brand in anyone’s eyes other than theirs, and lets face it they seem to be doing a god job of devaluation themselves currently!

It's just I have heard tell that they certainly used to tend to be less than pleased with people enhancing their creations and that parts and invitations to buy their latest and greatest can dry up as a result of quite words.

I never personally liked the end result of the P4/5 but my hat goes of to him for doing what he enjoys with his money. We need more people like this.

From my conversations with him, James is a member of the old school way of doing things and is a gentleman. Ferrari are not daft enough to offend that clientele, no matter how much it may look like they only care about chasing the new Middle East money at times! Luca is old school himself.

We are simply looking to put on a good effort, have a good time and bring back a bit of the days when Privateers such as NART/Maranello Concessionaires/etc. had a chance. We also want to have a car that can drive to the track, race, and drive home.
great stuff and thanks for taking the time to discuss it.

Seems like a bit of a waste of a Scuderia. Couldn't he have used a regular 430? Ah well. smile

The Scud gearbox is a little better and we're not sure if we use the race gearbox in the eventual street version.

Cheers

I wonder under what colours the car will be raced. White with blue stripes in a truely traditional american manner would be terrific. Or something that goes with these smooth body lines.

This would make quite a difference to all the contemporay race cars at the Nürburgring 24hrs. In contrast to the many "cool" designs of the 70'ties, today the cars are not very tastefully painted any more.

I hope the beautiful P4/5 body will not be wasted and plastered with "hundreds" of sponsors or odd design schemes.

It will doubtless get very warm under the P4 'glasshouse' - are you retaining the donor cars aircon?

We've all got our own little projects that live inside our heads.........mine is to do ridiculous things to my TVR sagaris (4.5 l upgrade, supercharger and lots of carbon fibre) but I fear my plans will live forever in my head.

Hats off to anyone who has the drive to make such a successful business, build a car like this, and then be gracious enough to share it with everyone.

Good luck with the racing!

We're moving along. Here's the Livery we're leaning towards.

Also a shot of original P 4/5 tooling which we'll be able to reuse.

Cheers!
