Now *that* is exactly what an updated version of an old design should be done.

The Beetle, Mini, 500, etc are all utterly pathetic in comparison to this incredible treatment of the Stratos.

If they were to build it - as seen here - would it sell enough though? Would Fiat/Lancia actually be interested in making such a sublime looking vehicle?

Me too! Heres hoping that its not a one off based on a Ferrari, but the start of something far more down to earth based on more mundane Fiat group components. Alfa V6 power? God I hope so.

Looks amazing! EXCEPT... I think the front end could be made to look a little more up-to-date

The pictures of the silver car have been seen before, and seem to be a rendering rather than an actual car. The two views have a different amount of offset/dish on the rear coffin spoke wheels.

That tends to be exactly how updated versions of old designs are done... until things like modern safety legislation, manufacturing costs and practicality concerns are taken into account.

Tha is bloody stunning. BUT to me the first two pictures looks like shots from a videogame for some reason! Here is hoping it is a real possibility! cloud9 Would make a nice R8 rival...

For me a new model wouldn't be able to compete with the original.

A new Stratos would have to abide by EU safety regulations and for me it just wouldn't have that feel of living on the edge the same as the original had.
Personaly i think classic names should be left in the past where the belong.
As manufacturers have a high chance of taking away what made the csr special way back then.

Something about those 'spy' shots looks fishy. They look more like screenshots from a PS3 game than actual photos, almost like a photo of a tv screen with the game (GT5?) playing.

Maybe a Ferrari/Fiat/Lancia rival to the Audi R8? It would make sense... look at R8 sales...

From Bollah's link:

That does look rather good! It's got just enough new design cues to make the retro thing work (as opposed to the Ford GT and new Beetle for example that just look - in purely aesthetic terms - like slightly flawed replicas).

I'd love to see them put it into production, alfa V6 would be a good bet and keep the costs down when compared to a Ferarri engine. Wonder if they'd sell it over here....

Some of the latest GT5 footage is close to photographic/studio quality camera work, its damn near impossible to differentiate it from reality.
