RE: Update: New Stratos Could Be Set For Limited Run
Discussion
My father was fortunate enough to actually own a Stratos and I drove it many times. The thing to remember is that the car was designed to go rallying in. It had a very short wheelbase and felt very lightweight which resulted in very darty kart like handling ( which was fun but you had to be very careful with it ALL the time ). On the other hand, it was cramped, noisy, had zero ventilation ( and thus got very hot ) and was pretty crude ( it didn't even have window winders ). No wonder Lancia struggled to sell them. It did look beautiful, but as a car, the subsequent 037 and S4 were a lot better.
I suspect that the new car, should it come to market, will be a lot heavier and more luxioursly finished. It will be called a Stratos, and look in many ways like it, but will not share any of the DNA of the original.

It was designed to try and kill you if you werent called Sandro Munari.I suspect that the new car, should it come to market, will be a lot heavier and more luxioursly finished. It will be called a Stratos, and look in many ways like it, but will not share any of the DNA of the original.
I like that.

And as 'cramorra' says, Lancia needs some 'signature cars'.
Given the current trend towards executive supercars. ie. Rapide, Panamera, Quattroporte, Lamborghini’s Estoque (please build!) I'm surprised they haven't resurrected a modern Lancia Thema 8.32.DJC said:

I think the problem for me, is that stupid thing around the back of the roof. It looks terrible!
I think it is an interesting take on the original roof spoiler.Would be interested as to what it does though, the original was basically to blow air across the engine vents to try and keep the engine cool.
Would like to know what their modern take on a group 4 lamp pod would be a well, maybe a low profile block of LEDs?

Other features where adaptive electronic damping and visco drive (an early mechanic attempt on traction control), reasonable well in controlling torque steer but handling could be a bit of a handful---lovely car and I think the last competitive Lancia Saloon- the K and Thesis were good cars but not leading the way but following it, hence outgunned by the competition
A pity that the Thesis did not carry over more from the dialogos study....

It looks all wrong...
That is because it is missing the air scoop on the roof and a lamp pod on the front. And wtf kind of colour choice is silver??Look a couple of pages back at the picture next to a group 4 car, I think showing it next to a Stradale is wrong given that this concept has most of the group 4 items (big flared arches, roof spoiler, tail spoiler).
