Can't help thinking they should have gone to Bertone for this rather than Pininfarina.
They did the original, after all. Doesn't stop me liking it though!

fk me that is stunning. Pop in a 400bhp V8, take on the R8 = win for Lancia. It isn't like Ferrari have anything in that market space with the cheapest Fezza being about £140K now, so what would Fiat have to complain about?
Not complain, but this is where a Stratos should be a home, and I'd love to see this new made just as capable.

Wonderful car... if the new one is half as good as the old one (minus the halfords upgrades please), it'll put a smile on a lot of people's faces!

Given that it will almost certainly be well into six figures, you might have a bit of saving up to do. smile
Depends on numbers produced but if using a Scud as a base model with Carbon body then would have thought it is more likely to be £250k+. Shame....

Yes, yes, yes. Rally car, 500ponies, lightweight, etc.

Have you noticed the wheelbase has been kept the same though?
So, even if the car has a detuned Fezza V8, that still north of 400ponies with that short wheelbase and weighing, well, not that much.

The only guy ever to truelly tame a Stratos was Sandro Munari and even then his idea of taming it was to basically drive it sideways on various vectored angles as it was the only way to get decent forward progress in one! This new motor is packing 100ponies+ north of what the old one was in either road or competition form. Its been engineered with just rwd aswell, so it would have to be racing, not rallying unless somebody wants to do an expensive engineering exercise to find a competitive 4wd set up for it.

So then, just how many of you think you have the driving abilities of Sandro?

While not heavily televised, there is a GT class of rally cars still these days.

Really do like this Stratos. Really impressed with the shut lines too.

Can somebody knock up a Martni livery on the new car ?

I think this is called the "Top gear effect"

Since being on Top gear, many more people suddenly "like" Lancia and the Strato's in particular.

I'd rather they build ther Fulvia concept of a few years back. Much prettier car

Bring back pop up headlights.
...aren't pop up head lights illegal now??...or am i going mad??
not illegal, but to make them comply with pedestrian regs would be sooooo expensive, they would look like puffballs and would have to be destroyed in an impact with a pedestrian, which puts the thatcham rating up (cost of repair after minor impact) and therefore insurance ratings would go up and people wouldn't be happy with their huge premiums....so OEMs don't bother anymore.

IIRC, safety legislation now prevents pop-up headlights, more's the pity... though somebody feel free to prove me wrong...
I find that hard to believe. I am sure something like the pop ups on the original are hard to get through, but modern headlamps can be tiny so it wouldn't have to pop up very far these days.
it isn't the size, it is the sharp edges, I can try and dig the regulation out if you really want to know?

Looks great apart from:
1 Headlights - need a better shape
2. Its really needs the slats on the rear window
3. Need to make in more numbers with an option for a non Fezza engine, so its affordable for mere mortals to buy, so like the z4MC, 350z etc, Lancia would make a killing.
you got it in one mate.. the slats are a must, and the headlights are too 'sad looking' if this was a mass produced car at say.. £40k (tops) it would be amazing.
That would be AMAZING, they'll make a killing anyway, but I wish they'd make 20,000 of the things at £40,000 instead of making 25 at £300,000 - boo!

Totally agree, I was hopefully when I saw the tag line and let-down when I saw the pictures. How much for that fugly beast?!

I like. Even if the original had never existed, this one is a tasty car in its own right.

Shame cars like these never get built in higher numbers or for reasonable costs.
