Ignoring the fact that there may be a hefty engine bill for cleaning/repairing/rebuilding and the damage to resale value, maybe nothing. If you said that the performance is now 10% down and deteriorated linearly then that's 5% more fuel on say 84,000 miles at 21 mpg so that 5% of 4,000 gallons at £6 per gallon which is £1,200 which may well be the cost of three 20,000 mile services at 20K, 40K, and 60K after the last service. You can nudge those figures up and down to your hearts content but the answer will still be that any short term saving is likely to be minimal, if anything and long term it's costly.MartG said:

I remember a similar post about a BMW engine in the US. Someones mate asked them to come over as the engine light was on, he asked when they last had it serviced "eh what's that then". No oil change for something in the region of 100,000 miles. By the time you tot up the labour and materials to do a job like that it's got to be pretty steep!!
