With Ford still holding the purse strings, and them not wanting Mazda to have anything better than there current designs, I can't see this going ahead.
Fortunate coincidence that Ford sold approx. 20% of their Mazda-stocks in 2008, so they're now shareholder...I just hope it will not replaced by some painted whitegoods for production
It's a nice looking concept, but it doesn't look as if there is space for a transverse engine in the front of that to me. It would be lovely to believe that Mazda might make a RWD saloon, but I can't see it happening and that design really doesn't look like it would translate well into a FWD car.

Do we reckon the RX8's successor will ditch the rotary? If they plan to build a practical, affordable RWD 2+2 coupe with a sensible engine I might even be tempted to part with some cash...
Think about what the R stands for!!Good point. They can call it whatever they like if it's got the RX8s pace and handling in a slightly more reliable/frugal package.

I'm loving this (even though some might say the front end is a bit of a Jag rip-off), it definitely is a very agreeable design - let's hope they doesn't dilute it too much... Well done Mazda!
Well to be fair, the new xk8 is more of an Aston Martin rip-off. About the shinari, I think it's absolutely beautiful. I love what Mazda have done with the 3 and 6. Definetly more interesting than their rivals
