RE: V8 Ariel Atom Gets 900bhp Per Tonne

From seeing them on track days, either Atom owners in general are gung ho nutters, or Atoms are very unstable near the limit - I suspect the latter.
How would even more power make them less likely to do that snap oversteer trick they seem so fond of? And if it doesn't, kind of what's the point? Noone buys an Atom or caterfield to be a straight line hero...

I've heard the latter from a professional who is a far better driver than I will ever be.I believe him, and regetably crossed an atom off the wish list (I dont think I'd ever be able to cope with it or fully "manage" it), still think they are great though and I have a greater respect for people who drive them!
Having owned both a 220 and 300 but not driven the new Atom 3 I would say the older cars without the needle roller bearings can be oversteery IF not driven smoothly. In all the trackdays I did in both cars I never once spun.
I will concede though they require alot longer to learn to take them to the limit compared with a Caterham which is much easier to drive at the limit.
The biggest issue with the new car is it will be too fast. Even in the 300 I spent most track days getting held up by cars, you needed a radical or GT3RS on track to play with it was generally faster than most things without aero.

Thats a seriously funny price. But I do love these creations from the smaller manufacturers. These are the vehicle for me that make my heart skip a beat, not the uber posh exotica. The 'thrill of driving' not the 'thrill of ownership'.
Wonder what time Ben Collins would lap the TG track in this.
