The specs I listed are officially quoted from Radical. Come and drive it... and eat your words!
Is that offer open to 18 year olds, Liz?

How about in exchange for some photos? wink
If you've got a full UK driving license & sign all the forms... absolutely! wink Loved your pics BTW smile Interesting reaction to the article... even to the official specs listed by Radical. Believe people! Believe!! Ha! Ha! If not.. put your money where your mouth is. :P x

Much faster response time form the AA/RAC when it invetiably breaks down :0

Not sure about its suitability as a TDO hire car though.

Firstly it will be massivly quicker than anything else with even an average driver, making it incredilby tedious to drive on a busy circuit.

Secondly, they are a race car and as such require constant attention, add the cost of the car, consumables, mechanic and wear rate and its going to have to be a pretty steep hire rate to make a return.....if that is the intention.

Thought there where a lot more road registered SR3's though, i know of two locally.

Best of luck.

Accel: 0-100mph (sec) 5.5
Sorry, but there's no chance a Rad would do 0-100 in 5.5s - more like 8s, and if it did your figures imply it's take 6.5s to stop from 100 (0-100-0 12s)!
Im with Walton on this. The 0-60 is just about buyable but the 0-100 definitely not. Same sort of time litre sports bikes are getting with circa 180 bhp and less than half the weight of the radical
Agreed, 8s I could believe, 5.5 is rather optimistic. My old 400kg BEC with a 160+bhp R1 engine would do 0-60 in about 4s and 0-100 in a tad under 10s, there's no way you'd basically halve that with another 40bhp or so, especially whilst generating draggy downforce. 60-100mph in just over 2 seconds takes serious power, not just good power to weight.

Hi, driving a car like this on the road is not as difficult as it sounds.
I have the first road going Jaguar Palmer JP1, use longer push rods for better ground clearance and soften the damper settings from track day use. It takes me about an hour to return the car to its trackday settings.
0-60 in 3.6 secs
0-100 in 6.8 secs
I wouldn`t attempt to drive around London with it though, as I don`t think I would have a clutch left afterwards!

With a 65kg driver (optimistic), and 210bhp you get:

0-60: 3.8s
0-100: 8.5s

This is using standard Hayabusa gear ratios, with the car geared to achieve quoted top speed (161mph) in 6th at peak power.

The SR3 RS actually using a 1500cc engine though, that is closer to 245-250bhp. (I think Radical's quoted 260bhp is a bit pie in the sky... same BMEP as an F1 engine!)

So with 65kg driver, 250bhp, you get:

0-60: 3.2s
0-100: 6.9s

ha! Good to see, although any road car where you have to wear a helmet to drive is pointless, not to mention you look like a complete pellet!! That covers Atoms and kitcars without a front screen!

65 kg . . . yeah, right.

Awesome figures though! I bet da noise will tear the skies apart.

Because it's really good fun?
No it isn't.

Driving in London is about as far from fun as it is possible to get behind the wheel of car.
In a Radical it's a lot more fun wink
It might be more fun than a G wizz but it's still the least possible amount of fun you could have in said Radical
Did we mention that we went though some tunnels?
Much more fun than bring on the motorway!
Obviously a track would be better though...
At 4am on a Sunday finding some tunnels it's good fun. Certainly the most automotive fun you could have legally at 4am on a Sunday!
