I agree with detomaso on the chrome wheelarch 'trims'. frownfrown

I'm not sure if scrapes or rust are good enough excuses for them. frownfrown

Two words - "tin worm"......

Cracking shed though - aircon working? Really? That makes it the cheapest one I have seen with working aircon!

I'm not sure this would be wise - at Shed money the 628 CSi would be OK, but a 635 - that's a huge gamble and one that I have a nasty feeling won't end well.

Still, it is tempting - there's a bloke not far from me with a pristine red 635 CSi, a manual with cream hide interior. Beautiful old beast!

I didn't know that. You learn something new everyday.
Neither did I. Every day's a school day.

Are you selling or have you just bought??
Different car, same vendor.

I bought mine from them about 2 months ago. Great chaps to deal with, thoroughly recommended and they've got some cracking cars.

More photos of mine, and the others they've got in stock, at www.4starclassics.com

Mine`s a 1982 example in red. Got to say that she is a lovely old girl. Manual gearbox and lowered suspension makes it a real fun drive. So far she has been very reliable however its not a cheap thing to run. Makes some great noise when you get a move on as well.

Wierdly not popular with the ladies but there mum`s love it. However my 11 year old son thinks i`m a hero!

Get down there and buy it then. It's just as lovely in the flesh. They had just got it in when I bought mine - I test drove it, really liked it, but opted for my lovely red auto waft-mobile instead.

P.s. sorry for the thread hijack!

Whilst pleased these things seem to put a smile on a lot of faces, I can't help thinking they are completely over rated and subsequently over priced. I've seen complete dogs for sale for £3k, i do appreciate from some angles they are quite handsome but an E28 M535i has surely got to be a better car for the money? At shed money from the same era i'd prefer an Audi Coupe, an E28 528i, Mk1 GTi and many others i won't bore you with. I do admit i haven't yet driven the old style 6 series but possibly never will because i just can't justify their prices...

Miserable sod(!).

I fkING LOVE THIS CAR! Definitely one of my favourites, along with the E34 and E36 (of course).
There's one not too far away from me in the same gangster gold (great colour in my book) which seems to have been sat for a number of years. When I can afford a second car, this will definitely be it. Preferably with an H box though.

Had one of these, they are an amazing car but damn they are expensive to keep on the road.
Expect rust and general pain ahead if you buy a cheap one!

I used to have one of these, so good i bought it back from the guy i sold it too. Mine was silver with a blue cloth interior. That engine is bullet proof, if given some attention every now and then, it'll churn out torque all day long. I had to change the auto'box in mine, and took the opportunity to put a Limited Slip Diff in at the same time. Best bit of money i ever spent on a car. Transformed the handling out of a corner and away from the 'lights.

I sold it on to guy form Northern Ireland, where it came from originally. I miss its acceleration from average british motorway speed upwards. When in Sport Mode it would drop from top, to third (bonnet rising, beginning to move) and occasionally another drop into second (lots of noise, bonnet lifted even further, now being hurled at the horizon) and whatever was behind me was now getting further and further back. Very little could keep up. Even went past a SL55 AMG on a country road once, all money, no talent.

Its an awesome car, and it started loads of conversations at the pump and got admiring glances everywhere it went. For those of you buying a new BMW, weigh up your depreciation against a solid, reliable and quick shark-nose. You wont be disappointed. A great buy.

when you have just bought a car like that, hijack all you like!

How do you find the autobox, I had a 3spd one in my e28 535i and wasn't overly impressed. does the 6' have a different box?
Oh alright then....

The autobox is fine.

It's a four speed, with three settings (Economy for normal use, Sport which delays up-changes and encourages kick-down, and 1-2-3 which locks out 4th - handy for country roads). Fourth is very long - approx 2,200 rpm at an indicated 80mph - which made it surprisingly economical for the cruise down though France.

My car had only done about 1,000 miles a year for the last 6 or 7 years, so I took it easy for the first 1,000 miles. But as the trip went on, I pushed it harder and the Sport setting really lets you get the most out of the engine.

And its a big wafty old thing, so you don't realise quite how quickly it is gathering speed. Clearly nowhere near as quick as the Z4MC and M3s I had previously, and not lightningly quick off the line, but with the 'box in Sport mode the acceleration from a rolling start in 2nd was very respectable.

On the whole, gear changes are very smooth. Under load there would occasionally be a bit of shunt from 3rd to 4th, but I think a gearbox oil change should sort it out.

Its still on its original TRX alloys, with the correct michelins! They will give some lovely sideways action at little provocation. Hugely expensive tyres, and not particularly good either.

I agree. £370 a corner for tyres!! Mine came with TRXs as well, with plenty of tread, but they're very old-tech.

I've ditched them for a set of 17-inch cross-spokes from a 8 series, which look the business without spoiling the originality of the car, and give much better ride and grip.
