Mine, means nothing really but it was a cheap way to hide the year plus I hated the registration that was on the Civic.

Do you find you are a target for agro on the road? In the 80s I was passed every day on the M3 by a car whose registration contained 'UP U 2' which was highlighted in some way. As he went by at a hundred or so he was either two inches in front of someone doing his nut or two inches behind someone doing his nut even more.

Fantastic plate Craig, I’ve now also owned both of mine for over 30 years.

Here is GFS 92 on my 330Ci convertible back in 2003, I’d just collected it. the touring was my wife’s and also ended up with that reg on it in later years.

And NPF 111 on my wife’s Mercedes back in 2006

Which used have GFS 92 on it, this photo was taken at Le Mans in 1999, I’d just collected the car from Arlington Mercedes in Northampton

I also bought a cheapy plate for my Fireblade a few years ago. Now on a BMW S1000R.

I picked up an initials plate from the DVLA recently. It was part of their new releases of old plates;

I bought this a few years ago, it's my initials. The "12" part was because I wanted to eventually put it on a V12, which happened this year. Which was a happy coincidence as there weren't any other ACD plates for sale at the time.

I would actually liked to have bought V12ACD but it had already gone.

I also own 21ATS - my username. currently on retention. It's the initials of my business.

Business partner has 20 ATS.

Been seeing this alot more over the past couple of years - has there been some rise in the Satanic Occult that i'm unaware of? confused

Used to just presume that it was for people who wanted a private numberplate, but couldn't afford anything shorter than 7 digits, but the amount of them about nowadays suggests there's Devil worship going on... rofl

I have this on my GT4:

Untitled

I'm tired of model rex / god / TLA plates...so thought I would be more honest that it's less than tasteful (red & gold) and the owner has the frame and grace of the Honey Monster (and bases road trip destinations on place names an immature 12 year old would be amused by).

The current trend for "look at me! I'm so contrary".

Sad people. They suck the joy out of every environment they're part of.

They're about as contrary as a pair of y fronts.

I have a genuine question…..why are they called “private” plates? They’re visible to the public (so not private) and procured from a public body.

Is there a reason why we shy away from calling them “vanity” plates, which seems to be a much more appropriate name in that they’re there for reasons of vanity?

My two

Dateless BGP plates seem few and far between, and the DVLA said they've all been issued - I'm sure one day I'll find another for a reasonable price, but for now these will do nicely!
