I have G5RAS on retention, simply because I bought a car it was already on and quite liked it, so I kept it when I sold the car. Still can't bring myself to put it on my current Mondeo, though...

As an aside, I also contacted the DVLA about the availability of three particular number plates when I turned 40; one of which I thought would make a good present. They told me that two were already released and owned, but the third had never been released. however, they'd put it through their checking process and put it in an auction for me to buy, and would email to let me know when this happened.

However, I'm curious to know how long this usually takes, as I've now been waiting five and a half years! I do email them every year on my birthday to give them a gentle reminder, but the answer is always the same as above!
My plate had never been released and I would estimate it took about 4 years from request to tgeDVLA to going to auction.

My two not very valuable plates have done sterling service on some fun stuff over the years, but one is now on retention and the other on a family estate (which luckily still has the right powerplant for the reg). Sad times.

I’ve had 111RG for many years now, bought at DVLA auction. Currently on retention.

Have seen that 1RG, 11RG and 1111RG are also in circulation.....wonder if anyone wants to make a complete set!
Hi - would you be interested in selling this?

Two, both just initials. I'd rather die than be seen driving something with plates that try & spell something. VERY VERY council/Chav./Essex.

My three. N10 has been on dozens of vehicles - owned since I was 17. RFN are my initials (surprising, I know... given the username). The others I bought as the fleet grew.

This plate was already on the car when I purchased it. Not sure I would have bought it but owner was quite happy to let the plate stay with the car given it's so car specific.

I can’t say I agree with the vanity statement. The plates I have have all been bought for personal reasons. I bought this in Dec 2010 (posted back then too) and gifted it to my middle son Elias. He was 18 in the Summer now working full time and earning a great wage for his age (he moans he pays just under £200 tax and NI... a week). I’m hoping he invests in his first car next year and puts this on it. It’ll be his for life from his Mum.

Love that - that's what a personal plate is all about! clap

That’s perfect, he’s a lucky lad to have that.

My ones are a bit crap as I have a difficult surname (Cargill)

C13Gll
C14Gll
The two boys ones..
R055CGL
AR09ANC

Ross/Arran.

I’m currently looking out for something fun to put on a WRX converted Subaru Brat but as it’s a D reg I’m a bit limited without spending a fortune.
