TWW were my Grandpa's initials. He died in 1980, shortly before my impending presence was announced.

My Granny died in 2001, and we transferred the plate onto my car. For me, it's a way of remembering both of them.
Very similar to my story: my plate has both my parent's initials and the number of years they were married. They've both passed away. Just looks normal (A12BCD style) but the people who know, know, and, most importantly, I know.

It's on its 7th car now and makes me happy.

Yeah we have a "*** 2Y" style plate that my Dad got on his first every new car. Just lucky i guess. That's been on loads of Cars over the years and people always ask me what the significance is.

Two.

One on the RS4 with my initials - BJW

The other on the L200 (previously on the Cup) but no one wanted to buy it after Cup was sold. The first letters are L20, so it is not too out of place on the Truck. Used to be Lady BJW's plate as well, so guess there is a bit of sentimentality attached. Just need to find a Cup Spec 4x4 (could be a great Defender model -LR, are you listening?)

I have R60EST which is currently on retention. Looked good when I had it altered slightly to read R GUEST but doesn't look anything like in legal form ( which it has been for a while) hence it's on retention , not wasting putting it on a car now until I find a car I'm going to stick with for some time

Also have B16 RWG on my van . Been on the van for 6 years but had it on a load of cars before that , the transfer fees alone have cost more than the plate did , would sell either now for the right money as I've come to the conclusion they're more trouble than they are worth .

If I was in the market for a new car , or in a couple of years time I'd be slightly interested to look out for RW60EST ( R W GUEST) but it would probably stay on the car when I sold it

I've got M1 PNY on retention. My initials are in there.

My bro and his wifey have a similar ones.

I might sell mine but have no idea what it is worth. I'm fed up of the cost and effort of constantly swapping it as I change cars way too often or paying £25 a year to the DVLA who do pretty much fk all for the privilege of issuing me a new piece of paper. frown

My parents bought me K800 ACB for my 21st. Money was tight and she wanted to get me something I could keep, so it was a nice sentiment but it's really not a good plate. It currently resides on my Dad's Corsa because it's cheaper than putting it on retention and I rather conveniently bought a car that's too old to fit it to.

I don't think I'll get rid of it, as that would offend my parents, but I'd keep it on a daily driver if I got a decent one for a weekend car. I quite fancy WYK 412 at the moment, as I'm not a fan of age related plates and it relates loosely to my username on most forums.

To make it clear; ACB is my initials, and my Grandad has DJB 800 on his Jag so my Mum wanted to match the numbers; it's a loose link but it worked for her.

My view on personalised registration numbers is that they should be relatively short and/or dateless, aside from that what it actually says doesn't matter an awful lot to me.

I've always been into private plates, turned into a bit of an obsession but I've sold quite a lot of them recently and cut the collection down to size.

Personal plates I own which I'll never sell are M12 SKW, bought on my 17th birthday (my initials), then W7NNS (surname). More recently I've bought WYN1V. Used to own 15 W - was as close to 1 SW as I could get at the time but sold it last year to fund part of a house extention.

I like cheeky, "in yer face" plates as well and own the following; O P55 OFF, R9NDY, HU51LES & X 124TED. Looking to sell these in the near future...

A couple of others I have are S60RES (SCORES) & RE08ULL - which is as close to REDBULL as you can get. I'm just sitting on them until the right buyer comes along with a decent offer.

Best sort IMO.

Distinctive without being somebody's initials or some mis-spaced drivel. I do hope it is spaced correctly....

There's a guy in the American car forum looking for a plate for his Mustang. Almost spells MY PONY

I'd love something like that for exactly the same reason.

I've got V8 MSY on the Mustang. It was the closest I could get to Muzzie.
I've also got GDZ 297 on the Mercedes. Cost me next to nothing and is just a dateless plate that I've owned for quite a while.

I know personalised/vanity/private number plates cause arguments here all the time, but for those who are interested in them, what plates do you actually own?

I stole the thread idea from another forum and it is interesting how many plates are on retention rather than on cars!

To start then my plate is V15 BEN - had it 7 years now and no plans to sell any time soon!

So what do you have? smile
Heh. Small world.

I recognise your car from around Huddersfield. Think I knew your cousin Sally at uni.

I've had A18 RFW for 18 years now. My parents bought it for my 18th birthday. Had it on every car I have owned.
