What private plates do you have?

I requested a plate to be issued by DVLA. In the months before auction I was contacted by regtransfers suggesting that the same plate “might” be available and to register my interest. Fairly sure I was bidding against them in the auction and then after I won, I was then sent more emails suggesting that they might be able to sell me the plate for 3 times what I had paid. I was half tempted to email and say I was interested so that they’d then contact me to sell my own plate back to myself.

Helmet on, await the sizing/spacing/unacceptable police to beat me up, but I imported this and it needed a new reg. I used to own V7TTE but that's no longer available. I think it's more appropriate than any variation of random numbers and letters...

There seems to be 'private', 'dateless', 'cherished' etc for UK plates, nice things to have if they mean something to you, I prefer the non misspaced and shorter plates, however if someone wants to take the chance and alter theirs that's up to them.

Comes with a wool pad to be used with a standard chuck drill, Plast-X compound, and three grades of wet and dry if the oxidisation is particularly bad.

In the photo I had used the wet and dry pads. Really the headlights need to be treated with UV protection after too otherwise you’ll be doing it again a couple of years down the line.

Well, it turns out that special characters are not counted to test that a plate is unique. So A?!’ Is the same as A. I’d guess that a plate of all special characters is effectively blank! https://www.ncdot.gov/dmv/title-registration/licen...

That seems to be the most confusing system ever! lol

If it has to have at least one letter or number, and I guess that all the single-letter and single-number plates have gone (surely?), you'd need to work through AA-ZZ, 10-99, and A1-Z9 to see if a two-character plate remains on which to use as a basis for punctuation characters etc., before moving on to 100-999 etc. etc. for potential three-character options..

Except surely it is cooler to just have the two/three characters in the first place if it is available??


I think they've assumed that only letters and numbers are memorable so are the important things, and the punctuation etc. will just get ignored!


Edit: I wonder if FOFF has gone - could add three special characters and a space somewhere in that for amusing effect... lol

Size if A2 is an embarrassment. But, I am a chav.

YAC was owned by my wife and is the first 3 letters of her surname and has owned A1 since her late teens. Her family all have YAC plates.

Also have L7 YAC / NSX 392T from my Honda 90 and 525 HLV on my old BSA. Disgrace away,,,,,,,,,,,
