Yay Subaru are back, does anyone think Subaru will use this model to reinvent itself in rallying? Especially since the reviewer mentioned the beefed up std suspension. We can only hope right?? Would be glorious!!

The key to this car, for anyone who isn't familiar with the JDM spec c, is the suspension set up makes a huge difference, For me I could forgive the ugly looks if it drives as good as a spec c. Can't wait to blag a spin in one of these.

Not bad, that line from the rear arch backward is awful though, just sort of fizzles out and leaves the rear half of the arch looking like cauliflower ear.

Still, decent effort, good to see Subaru have grown up a bit. As much as the big wing and silly wheels was very much a hallmark of Imprezas, it's a tired look that put a lot of people off too. I'd probably consider one of these if the interior and price is right.

I agree spoiler puts me off, I'm really happy they decided to drop it.

Although perhaps I'm not blessed with the greatest taste in cars, I have to say that the Impreza saloon looks great in the metal, and has a touch of 'class' (no, really) that the others lacked.

I've never been an Impreza fan, but after seeing this one I've changed my mind. Oh, and i'll take mine sans-spoiler too.

If this had a massive spoiler I'd much prefer it to the hatchback version.

I think it looks much better than the hatch and perhaps a spoiler would improve things, just not a big w*nky one please! Either way it's the first time in a while I have been tempted back to the Impreza - apart from having to fill up every 200 miles it was a car I have very fond memories of owning.

Im confused i hated the hatchback when it cam out but after seeing htis im not so sure now.

Luckily for me i still have my classic wagon and love every minute of driving it.

Also i prefer the old intereior yes it was a bit plasticky but i mine had the blue leather option fitted from new which kind of brightens it up a bit.

And its only done 56k miles tops although due to getting married and a mortgage may be up for sale soon frown and how i shall miss it

Can't for the life of me figure out how someone managed to see a 3-series in the rear quarter view though! confused
Looks like the rear quarter of a Mitsubishi Shogun has been clagged on !

Needs a rear wing, even a small one

Any Pic's going about winged up ? PS ones even ?

Also wheels are too small for the massive arches.

Be good to see something like this on the roads again.

Reckon, if you ignore the Subaru grill, it's very Evo 8 in terms of shape. No bad thing, but looks mean as hell and with over 300hp no slouch.

Count me in! Sensible 4 door family car done the right way biggrin

What has happened to the standard WRX? Looking at the Subaru UK website it looks like the standard WRX has been discontinued. Is this right? Because if so, Subaru have done it again and discontinued their most popular model like when they stopped the saloon and just sold the hatch.

As a scooby driver for over 11 years, I really like the brand but I just can't understand the marketing decisions they make.

I love the sound of this, sounds like Subaru have responded to criticism and are trying to put the disappointing Impreza hatch into the shade.

Am I allowed to say I actually like it? I'm not sure a huge wing would suit it, too much of a performance dead-giveaway. What about a low lip-spoiler with a riser-kit in the boot for rally use?

This car, particularly in black, has a darkly enigmatic appeal that will make drivers of Audis and BMWs go 'wow, what the hell was that?' when it tears past them, almost like the menacingly anonymous product of some top-secret 'project' somewhere. Make it overtly obvious with big wings and loud decals like some of the Imprezas of old and the menace is replaced with comic McDonald's Car-Park aggression. I know the old Impreza's aerodynamics were functional, but overexposure and people fitting bodykits to cooking models have tarnished the image somewhat. Better to leave them until they're really needed (like with aforementioned riser-kit).

But overall, I like it! Secretly, I wish Alfa would do something like this, perhaps based on the forthcoming Giulietta-based saloon, with that charismatic engine powering a brilliant 4WD drivetrain underneath (the Q4 system needs some serious work to get it up to Subaru standard but it's not unthinkable), but on top, a vision of delicate automotive prettiness. Lovely.

Autocar reviewed an Sti in the traditional Blue with a spoiler, and it looked pretty good from certain angles. I think the Hawkeye was the best shape after the classics.

This car is hilarious, it looks like two completely different cars have been stuck together, it still amazes me how Subaru can get it so wrong.

I saw this at the RBF event at Prodrive and loved it. Nice that the interior is better but where and what at the soft touch plastics as the hatch was made of the cheapest materials outside of Renault. Also, Mr G, is the steering utterly lifeless or is that properly weighted now?
