Oh dear I dont like that at all, looks a bit of a dogs dinner. The older model seeemed to have so much class.

I'll take the Passat CC please smile
Skoda Superb 3.6 V6 will do me fine in the 'nice saloon' class.
Ah, so you're the market for that car, then! I knew there must be one of you... wink

It is Fuggly. That's got to be a fatal flaw in the class where this thing sells, surely?

I bet that lousy Merc only has one set of boot hinges wink

I had a 2003 S500L - lovely car - all things considered, it's no match for the Skoda though.

Another here firmly in the "not likey" camp.
It's gone from being a distinctive looker to looking like a blobby US barge from the 70's. I keep seeing huggy bear driving it.

The old CLS was much classier compared to the new, brash one ...

Looks like it weighs about 3 tons, even if it doesn't. It's so brash it's untrue.

Maybe its a grower? As far as I remember, the original CLS wasn't particularly popular upon it's conception. As for 31.3mpg, if a twin turbo'd V8 can reach that sort of territory, it will be astounding.

Merc are making some shockingly ugly cars at the moment. Only Merc I like the styling on at the moment is the C class. Trying to make everything look like the new SLS is silly. Fancy buying an SLS and opening the Gullwing doors in front of anyone - how to look like a pric!!!

Ah ha! Chris Bangle didn't leave the car industry after all, he continues to polute our roads with his shockingly poor designs from a secret design workshop at Mercedes! yuck

That would be the AMG engines. This is the 'standard' Merc V8 (of 5461ccs) - the only thing that was carried over unchanged from the W211 E-class into the W212. Hope that clears things up smile.
Indeed you are correct! Thanks for schooling me smile

I think the new CLS has a great front end, but those tail lights have got to go. They look like they were drawn by a kid. The current CLS has much better tail lights.

Hold on one cotton picking moment.

The front lights are also now full LED jobs, a world first for Merc that uses a total of 71 LEDs to create a distinctive and effective set of lamps.
So the left and right lamps have different numbers of LED's? Or am I missing something obvious?

I'm loving this car.

400bhp,400ft/lb and 30 mpg from a 4.7 twin turbo V8 with an SLS type dashboard (well to my eyes) whats not to like?

You guys are a tough crowd!

I think the new one looks okay, but I think the rear of the old one was amazing and the painful thing is that they've departed from the design so soon.

1st version looked classy, this one looks trashy.
YUP!

After the SLS has the charme of a loaf of bread without having any of the class and grace of the old 'gullwing' 300 SL, Mercedes ruined the CLS, another 'icon' car.

Very sad.
