Cant see what the new wheels are like. Front bumper restyle. Yuck. Change for changes sake. New tailpipes are too big, almost cartoon like proportions. Have you noticed those little slats theyve put on the rear bumper behind the rear wheels?. LEAVE THINGS ALONE. Just leave. Useless fussy additions, the car doesnt need them. The original car is a purposeful design, very coherant, maybe not beautiful, maybe not everyones cup of tea, but its not overdone, with one of the best standard wheel designs ever.
Bigger brakes?. How big?. If its the same calipers but bigger discs then it will be approaching 400mm, which is huge for a steel disc. Maybe these were needed from the off.
Actually the extra canards are mainly responsible for the 10% increase in downforce. The slats in the rear valance help cool the rear underbody which helps keep the diff and transaxle cool. Very little on the exterior was done purely for styling.Bigger brakes?. How big?. If its the same calipers but bigger discs then it will be approaching 400mm, which is huge for a steel disc. Brakes are up 10mm to 390mm. No heavier though and apparently designed by Mizuno himself to reduce the cracking issues the original car had.
I was lucky enough to get a ride with Toshio Suzuki around the Ring in the car a few weeks ago and even coming from my 612hp version, it felt decently quick and devastating around the corners. http://www.auto-journals.com/features/238
Those who can see beyond blind prejudice will have noticed my colleague John Barker's review in this month's evo where he praised the chassis changes very highly, mentioning the balance was now reminiscent of a 599GTB...

Whether you like it or not, cars don;t actually have souls. They are machines.
Which makes them very much like humans then!?If we view consciousness (and soul) as it is: a very inefficient form of hypothetical situation planning, surely - in just the same way - it is the quirks and foibles of a car that give it 'soul'.
The smell of unburned four star when your E-type's running a bit rich, the way a VXR Astra decides to shoot you onwards as the turbo boosts you through a 2500rpm apex - sending your adrenaline through the roof as you try to claw it away from the hedge.
That's soul. That's what makes driving fun.

I hare with your analogy about humans as well. Many people talk about souls and humans, yet what we see as a soul is simply chemical reactions, and firing neurons in our brain. An entirely physical process. The same is for a car. The engineered traits may be what we call a soul, but it is a physical thing.

Is this why GT5 is delayed
Katzanori Chocazuni what his face is busy hustleing his new GTR around Tokyo with the midnight club
Quite probably. It will get delayed and just before the release, someone else will come out with a new model and he will say... "oh got to have that in as well.... cancel the release date people, the punters won't mind!".Katzanori Chocazuni what his face is busy hustleing his new GTR around Tokyo with the midnight club

I notice it's big brother (the spec V) was trounced by the Porker RS and the Beemer GTS in this month's Evo's group test.
It lost certainly, but trounced is a bit strong. The GT3RS in particular is an amazing car.As I read it the ride of the spec V was the clincher. The car was, I think, acknowledged as the quickest car on test and the feeling was its not as good as the base model.
The spec V is a slightly strange product from Nissan. No extra power, not much lighter, rock hard, non adjustable suspension that doesn't suit UK roads all for double the money

For £40k Used there's nothing that comes close to beating this car for handelling and insane power!!
Whilst it is definately up there, my money would go on the other type of GTR...http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1978382.htm
£8000 for mods and a cool, comfy daily.

Is it only me that feels absolutely nothing for this car?
Nope. Me too. I grew out of soulless jap stuff years ago. I can respect some of it for it's abilities but, have no interest in any of it. I prefer me doing the driving, not the car. Fans see all these new gizmos it has as amazing. I just think, weight.
Boring!!!! zzzzz.
I'm sure it is a fantastic car though
