Is it me or is or is Mazda a seriously underated manufacuterer of cars! These concepts are ver good indeed and I dont think they have a bad car amongst the range of roadcars either! Could they become a Japanese Alfa?
Unfortunately Mazda only see 1.8-2% of the Market share, I have to say Mazda is a kind of forgotten brand.. You get your Focus, Astra, Golf or Corolla.. You never think of the Mazda3. Same with the 6.. People just get a Mundano or Passat or the like. MonkeyMatt said:

Love 'em. They just don't break.
Also liking the MX-5, I'm not so keen on the recent facelift, the two-tone refines it nicely. The contrast, stance and chunky tyre look seems to be quite popular with the americans at the moment. I thought it was too rounded before, but the nc really does look great once you sort the off-roader ground clearance.
I've been looking into an NC recently and had something more subtle but similar to this planned , must be metalic grey. I also had a crazy idea to get a luggage rack for trips, and have it painted to match some matt bronze wheels. Perhaps I'm a bit odd, I think it'd look great.

I think the badge delete on the front helps a lot. It looks much better with the tiny writing one.
It's strange that Mazda don't sell more really, all of their mass market cars are Fords with better styling, and the Duratec engine is a Mazda design.
So was the Mazda3 until Ford decided they liked Mazdas design and called it the Focus and left Mazda to come up with another design. Focus went on to be one of Fords biggest sellers IIRC It's strange that Mazda don't sell more really, all of their mass market cars are Fords with better styling, and the Duratec engine is a Mazda design.
I agree about the badge, that looks very cool.
If I owned a dealer, and was quite flush I'd make an NC look like that and show it off as a marketing tool.
Not too fussed on the look of that MX5... The arches don't look right, nothing about it looks right. The standard NC I like, though. Must be just me :P
The rest of the car sounds awesome though. Why is it American's can run the Cosworth supercharger fine whilst it's a complete no go over here?
I want that car

Got to say I am a fan of Mazdas. My dad has an 08 MX5 roadster couple (black, manual of course) and last year my sister bought a 1.5l Mazda2. I found it a bit ho hum to drive and got a new Fiesta myself (yes I know they are the same underneath but the Fiesta was just a bit sharper and better gearchange) but the 2 is a good little car. That track version looks great. How I'd love to see a tarnac racing competition with stripped out 2's, Fiestas, i20's, Polos, Clios, 207's, Yaris's etc. In Australia there was a few years back a series called the Mirage Cup (and for that matter the Daewoo Lanos cup) which were spec races and it was fantastic to watch these cheap hatchbacks going 3 abreast into 90 degree corners and nudging for position. Bring it back!

Ive got one of the 2's in the top sec with the 16" allows on in. Semmed a lot sharper than the Corolas, but does get done by about 1/2 a car length (the A pillar) by the Feista XR4 up to 60mph. Had a 98 MX5 also, which was heeps of fun, but not revy enough.the Mazda 3 was the top selling car in its class in australia. the focus was well down the list.
Long time lurker, very few posts.... I really love the look of that MX5 and am quite tempted at the thought of buying a used mk3 and trying to recreate it (visually initially, then all the oily bits). Any idea which bits are bespoke and which can be bought? The door handles are obviously off a mk1 and would probably be too difficult to do. Any idea if the flared wheel arches can be bought? How about the twin foglight bit in the air intake, and also what look like brake cooling ducts where the orig fog lights would have been? Roll cage?
Many thanks.
Many thanks.

Well, its a MK3.5 so the front bumper is totally different on the MK3 to the MK3.5 Many thanks.

I think they're just the blanking covers where the fog lamps would have been;
Just take out the actual lense and then abit of ducting and you could make your own brake ducts. Roll cage I'm not sure on, probably the same as one for a MK3 which anyone who races in the Ma5za league will have, Rodders on MX5Nutz would have the best idea for that.
Arches look like generic ones too, maybe MK1 Golf GTi would work or something like that.

Thanks Jonny. Sorry, I realised it was a mk3.5
Shouldn't really be too difficult to do........ (famous last words).
No it shouldn't really! Obviously the badge moving isn't so easy because the bumper raises around the badge so would require some plastic welding and painting and stuff. But would look incredible if done Shouldn't really be too difficult to do........ (famous last words).
I realised I spelt Ma5da wrong
Oops. forgot about the raised bit around the badge - that's going to be fiddly! Most important thing is going to be the new foglight mount in the grill, if I can't get hold of one of those then the whole look will be destroyed.
Can't wait till they can get the Cosworth MP62 supercharger to work without blowing up the engine.........
