Nice, I just don't think the mini should be there.

This MUST all be subjective, since few of us, I suspect have either the luck, or cash, to have been able to drive many of the cars we would like to, so It can only be based on an individuals experience based on what cars they know / have been able to drive to the limit / in the long term.
I remember reading an article about an individual in the Gulf states whose stable included a Veyron, quite a number of Ferraris and Lamborghinis, as well as an F1, and he stated he would NEVER have a garage that didnt have a Caterham 7 in it, Work that one out!?

A lack of weight seems to be the over-riding factor then ?

I would have said Lancia Delta Intergrale, in any guise - 16v, Evo 1, Evo 2. All sublime and surely a serious contender?

It's great that some of the owners have posted their cars and the history behind them. I reckon it would be easy to put together another couple of top five lists that look equally good on paper. What's interesting is that a Porsche RS (any incarnation) would probably be in it. I've never driven one but we can all dream....

My first car was a mk1 golf and I haven't had anything close to that for handling, balance and fun factor since, on two or four wheels. I'd love to try an old mini and a Caterham type craft.

I'd drop the F1 in favor of a good Delta.

A (real) Mini would run rings around a Mk1 Golf.

I guess another way of doing this would be to ask what 5 cars would you have in `your' dream garage. I suspect the list would be quite different to the one proposed by the magazine, and there would also be lots of different lists.

Well 3 of the 5 in the Mini Cooper S, the Elan and the 2.7RS I dont think anybody is going to argue about really. The other 2, an 8C and an F1? Lets be honest, theres only going to be bloody Flemke who is in a position to argue against the F1 and its ability anyway! The 8C was a contempory F1 car for the road, just exactly how much pure and boys own do you want to get?

I would definately want a 911 in my dream garage, and a Caterham, and something with 4 wheel drive for the bad weather, and something big enough for going on hols with all the family or friends, and their luggage, the problem is number 5, what would that be?

Depends on the drive and the driver. On an empty race track then the F1 hands down (that's what it was built for after all) but on a "B" road to and from the track it would be the Delta for me.

A "Drivers" car is something that gives you the feeling of a race/rally car and can be used on the school run.

Glad nobody has jumped on the "Lotus Elan I'd rather have an MX5" band wagon yet.

Hmm unsure if I'd drop the F1, defo drop something though... The Intergrale was the fastest point to point car at one stage in the 80s/90s...

But the F1 is just stunning...

nono The F1 was designed as a road car. The racing / track element came out of customer requests.

I remember the F1 had the same amount of boot space as the MkII Fiesta. So the Delta wins again. hehe
