Another vote here for the cavalier 1.7d. A truly shocking car along with Morris Ital.

Rover SD1 N/A Diesel. I drove one in India, it was terrible.

BMW 1 series - utterly pointless IMO

If you need back seats then you need a 3 series.
If you don't need back seats then buy a Z4.
Is the X6 not even more pointless than the 1 series? a coupe 4x4? wtf?

Rover 400 / 45

200 & 45 are no better ... but at least they had an excuse .. they were a Rover

The 400 & 45 were 5 door Civic's that Rover somehow managed to build badly
Really though? Or is that just the sheep-following Rover bashing that we get here every day?

Both are meant to be decent to drive, fit and finish wasn't all too shabby, and while the K-series did have e tendency to lunch its head gaskets, it had good power:weight/capacity.

I could certainly think of far worse cars...

Quite possibly

Both cars just prove the point that you can stick that blue and white propeller on anything and a large section of the public will sell their granny to get it sitting on their drive way

Dont know about worst, but the skoda Felicia is the worst ive ever driven. I dont think they have suspension and the seats were like sitting on a pile of house bricks. Dont see how anyone can travel more than a few miles in them without their skeleton being shattered.

Corsa B 1.2 8v Merit, awful even for a first car.
Disagree. Objectively, it IS terrible. Worst acceleration ever, and totally lacking in refinement. But it's not lacking in charm, and it is so simple and honest it can be fixed with a hammer.
Well mine certainly didn't have any charm, although it was so simple that there was pretty much nothing that could break, a good plus point I suppose for a first car. It was fantastically slow yikes

My vote goes to the 1.7 Ital Estate.
I had a quick wiki to check the difference between an Ital and a Marina... and then I read this:

"Portuguese assembly

Although most Itals were manufactured in the UK, there were also Portuguese-assembled Itals (badged as Marina 1.5 D) which were all equipped with the ancient 1.5-litre B-Series diesel engine, producing 37 hp.[2] The British Leyland factory in Setúbal (IMA) then switched to producing the Mini Moke."

yikes If that is correct I can only imagine a 37hp diesel must have been an absolute dream to drive!! yum

It has to be the Lancia Musa 1.3 Diesel. No idea if the engine has a turbo but it definitely felt like it didn't. It was so completely useless on the hills around Tuscany. Utter st.

one of my neighbours bought one of these brand new in 1987(?) (E reg) and invited me along to pick it up with him. I had never been in a brand new car.

As an excited 13 year old who knew nothing about cars even my initial enthusiasm rapidly dwindled as it slowly dawned on me just how crap his new car was.

For comparison my dad had a mk2 escort.

I absolutely hated my GF's old Citroen C1. Poorly-made, slow as scensoredt, horrible gearbox, awful driving position, rubbish handling, downright dangerous in anything more than a light breeze at speed...

Hardly any of the cars mentioned above are even contenders for the worst car ever.

I'd suggest something along the lines of the ZAZ-966, which was considered an extremely poor car even in Soviet Russia:

Closer to home, some of the shorter-lived cyclecar manufacturers would have offered even worse things for sale, but wouldn't have sold many before going bust.

No no NOOOOOOO! Got one currently sat on the drive. It leaks like a collander, is as tempremental as the frenchie who threw it together and only works sporadically. But when it does and the sun is shining it has buckets of charm and with the roof bars off is massive fun.

getmecoat it's ok I'm leaving

Being in car sales means I get to see and drive quite a few (potential) part exchanges, by a long margin the worst car I have driven in the past 6 years was one of these beauties......

Ssangyong Korando

Just awful.

Another vote for the Mk. 1 Vectra diesel.
I was so excited about my first car with air con......didn't work on day one.
Seats gave me back ache like nothing else before or since.
Wouldn't pull away uphill with the air con on.
Just hated it.
